Put On the Whole Armor of Yahweh
Paul said that we wrestle not against the flesh but against wicked spirits. As soldiers of Yahweh, we are given a special armor to protect us in battle, and we are commanded to be in full armor and to stand in the day of Battle. This is not just the suggested battle-armor; we are commanded to wear it. Our obedience to this command is an absolute necessity if we are to be victorious in battle.
Our armor is furnished by our Captain Yahweh. Though free to us, it has cost him all he had to purchase it for us. It offers complete protection to the wearer.
The heart is protected by the breastplate of righteousness, thus we are protected against the fiery darts of the wicked. Satan is never ignorant in war maneuvers; he will fill the unprotected heart with the wicked darts of hate, greed, lust, fear, and doubt. The breastplate of righteousness is sufficient to shield us from these darts and also against the poison darts of those who would destroy us with false and ugly accusations that fill the unprotected heart with bitterness.
Our head is protected by the helmet of salvation. Yahweh, knowing the great need we have for the protection of our mind and being aware of the sly tricks of the devil that turns our minds away from the truth, supplied us with the beautiful helmet of salvation.
Our feet are shod by the preparation of the gospel of peace. The shoes are also furnished—comfortable shoes, made to wear. But they are not over-shoes that can be worn over our own shoes of self-will and striving. Before we can put the shoes on, we must remove our old ones and allow our feet to be cleansed by the washing of the water by the Word. Shod in the comfortable shoes, we will not be hindered by the sharp thorns that hinder us from following the footsteps of Yasha.
Our loins are girt about with truth. Added to this, is the much needed shield of faith and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of Yahweh.
The armor is a complete dress and cannot fit over old garments of self righteousness. We must be willing to cast our old garments aside and depend fully upon the protection of Yahweh’s armor.
Any willing person can wear the armor free of charge, but we cannot keep it unless we are willing to wear it. We cannot buy it or find a substitute for it. And once we have it, we cannot sell it without suffering loss.
