Revelation Chapter Eleven

11:1 And there was given me a reed like unto a rod: and the angel stood, saying, Rise, and measure the temple of Yahweh, and the altar, and (them that) worship therein.

To measure the physical temple would not have served any purpose because the measurements were already recorded and John was familiar with those records. The angel instructed John to see and record the breadth, length, depth, and height of Yahweh’s spiritual house, his holy priesthood (Eph. 3. 18-19).

John was told to measure the temple—Yahweh’s dwelling place; and the altar—the sacrifice of the SAVIOR; and the worship—Yahweh’s relationship with humanity.

1 Peter 2:5-9, You also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to Yahweh by Yasha Christ. Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Zion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believes on him shall not be confounded. Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner, and a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed. But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that you should show forth the praises of him who has called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.

As John measured, he would learn the true character and authority of the Kingdom of Yahweh. He would understand that the Levitical Priesthood was a shadow of the Melchisedec Priesthood. He would understand how the tabernacle in the wilderness was inferior to Yahweh’s temples made of flesh and blood. John would then understand the Kingdom’s administration in Yahweh’s temples (1 Cor. 12:1-20). He would understand that there was one body but many members in that one body all operating by the Holy Spirit of Yahweh. John would understand that through the Holy Spirit dwelling within both the Jews and Gentiles (all other nations) they would be one in the Spirit in the Kingdom of Yahweh.

Eph 2:8-22, For by grace are you saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of Yahweh: not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in the Anointed SAVIOR unto good works, which Yahweh has before ordained that we should walk in them (good works). Wherefore remember, that you being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands; that at that time (when you were Gentiles) you were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without Yahweh in the world: But now in the Anointed SAVIOR you who sometimes were far off (Gentiles) are made nigh by the blood of Christ. For he is our peace, who has made both one (spiritual Jews), and has broken down the middle wall of partition between us (the Jews and Gentiles); having abolished in his flesh the hostility (enmity), even the law of commandments contained in ordinances (ceremonial laws); for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace; and that he might reconcile both (Jews and Gentiles) unto Yahweh in one body by the cross, having slain the hostility (enmity) thereby: And came and preached peace to you which were afar off (Gentiles), and to them that were nigh (Jews). For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father. Now therefore you are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints, and of the household of Yahweh; And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, the SAVIOR Christ himself being the chief corner stone; In whom all the building fitly framed together grows unto an holy temple in the Lord: in whom you also are built together for an habitation of Yahweh through the Spirit.

John did not need to measure the brazen altar that was placed in front of the temple. The brazen altar was used for the sacrificing of animals for the covering of sins. The angel wanted John to understand the redeeming power in the Life of the SAVIOR and not in the life of an animal. By comparing the Levitical Priesthood with the Melchisedec Priesthood, John would know that the people were no longer redeemed by the blood of bulls and sheep, but by the blood of the Anointed SAVIOR.

Heb. 10:12-21, But this man (the SAVIOR ), after he had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down on the right hand of Yahweh; from then on (henceforth) expecting till his enemies be made his footstool. For by one offering he (has) completed (perfected) the holy place (forever the) (them that) (are sanctified). Whereof the Holy Spirit (Ghost) also is a witness to us: for after that he had said before, this is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them; and their sins and iniquities will I remember no more. Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin. Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of the SAVIOR , by a new and living way, which he has consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh; and having an high priest over the house of Yahweh.

Under the Levitical Priesthood, the priests came before Yahweh on the people’s behalf serving as mediators between Yahweh and the Israelites. Strangers and foreigners that joined the Israelite nation were governed by the same rules.

In the Melchisedec order, the temple of Yahweh is the hearts and minds of the believers for he is spirit and those who worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth; they are governed by righteousness and truth. There was no need for the sacrificial altar anymore because the SAVIOR was the last sacrifice, which covered the sins of all people. This one last sacrifice was for all humanity.

Heb. 10:4-10, It is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins. Wherefore when he comes into the world, he said, “Sacrifice and offering you would not, but a body have you prepared me: in burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin you have had no pleasure. Then said I, Lo, I come to do your will, O Yahweh. Above when he said, Sacrifice and offering and burnt offerings and offering for sin you would not, neither have pleasure therein; which are offered by the law; Then said he, Lo, I come to do your will, O Yahweh. He takes away the first (Levitical Priesthood), that he may establish the second (Melchisedec Priesthood). By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of the SAVIOR Anointed once for all.
When the SAVIOR came and dwelt in them, his Holy Spirit gave them power to overcome sin in their lives. He taught them how to come into a personal relationship with their Heavenly FATHER. His Life’s blood (his essence) had set them free from the bondage of sin.

The Levitical order demanded a death, a sacrifice to cover their sins, while the Melchisedec order demanded them to triumph over sin. The first order required a man priest to stand between the people and their Heavenly FATHER, while the second order offered them a personal relationship with him.

Heb. 8:10-11, “For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days,” Yahweh said, “I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people: and they shall not teach every man his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord:’ for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest.”

The SAVIOR and his disciples walked across the land preaching to the Jewish nation; proclaiming the Kingdom of Yahweh is “now” set up in the earth. The Melchisedec order, the Kingdom of Peace and Righteousness, replaced the Levitical order. They warned the people that these two orders could not operate at the same time; for the symbol was giving way to the reality.
John’s revelation of our SAVIOR revealed the difference between the two orders and he was to share it with all who had ears to hear.

To worship is to give extravagant respect, admiration, or devotion to something or somebody. To have these feelings for the FATHER, one must be in agreement with his principles and his character. Paul said that some people think they love the FATHER, but they, in reality, do not know his true principles. They love the image they have of him, but their concept of him is false, because they have likened him as unto themselves (Rom. 1:22-25).

By measuring the worship, John would recognize the need for the new way of worship that was being made manifest through the Melchisedec order. This new order was not going to be administered by meat or drink offerings, but by righteousness (right living), peace (harmony), and joy (pleasure) in the Holy Spirit (Rom. 14:17). The Kingdom of Yahweh is not a ceremonial ordinance, but is the power of righteousness that overcomes sin in the flesh (2 Cor. 4:20). The true worship of Yahweh was no longer to be given through ceremonial laws, but in the Spirit of Righteousness and in truth (John 4:23-24).

The messengers of the seven churches that allowed false doctrines to be taught in their churches were keeping their congregations from seeing the principle of the Kingdom of Righteousness and Peace. They needed to understand that the Levitical order, with its ceremonial laws, was a shadow of the Melchisedec order, but they had to have spiritual eyes to see the difference—John had to “rise” in spiritual awareness to measure the difference.

Heb. 8:4-11, If the SAVIOR were on earth, he should not be a priest, seeing that there are priests that offer gifts according to the law: who serve unto the example and shadow of heavenly things, as Moses was admonished of Yahweh when he was about to make the tabernacle: for, “See,” said he, “that you make all things according to the pattern showed to you in the mount.” But now has he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises. For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second. For finding fault with them, he said, “Behold, the days come, says Yahweh, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah:… this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days,” saith Yahweh; “I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people: and they shall not teach every man his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest.” (Also see Jer. 31:31-34.)

11:2. But the court (courtyard) which is without the temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the nations (Gentiles): and the Holy City shall they trample (tread) under foot forty and two months.

In verse one, John is told to measure the altar, which is the sacrificial altar that is in the courtyard. The courtyard was not to be measured. Under the Levitical order, priests offered sacrifices upon the altar for the sins of the Israelites. The courtyard was limited to only a few (one nation). But with the SAVIOR’s sacrifice, the courtyard was no longer limited to just the Israelite nation, it was without measure because there was no longer Jews and Gentiles; they were all made one by the SAVIOR. The SAVIOR came as the Lamb of Yahweh and died for the sins of the whole world (1John 2:2). The altar still remains a symbol for the sacrifice of the old man of sin.

Gal. 3:26-29, You are all the children of Yahweh by faith in the Christ the SAVIOR. For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Gentiles (Greek), there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for you are all one in Christ the SAVIOR. And if you be Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.
Rom. 6:3-7, Know you not, that so many of us as were baptized into the Anointed SAVIOR were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. For he that is dead is freed from sin.

The Holy City is not the tangible city of Jerusalem. In verse eight of this chapter, the physical city is symbolized as Sodom and Egypt, referring to its corruption and bondage. Natural Jerusalem was far from being holy; she was in corruption and in bondage by the carnal minds of unbelievers.

According to Revelation 21:2, the Holy City is New Jerusalem; it is Yahweh’s Kingdom of Righteousness. As John measured the temple, he learned that those who proclaimed to be righteous leaders, but were hypocrites, had trampled the knowledge of righteousness under their feet—they had disregarded Yahweh’s Kingdom. Hypocrites are vain and foolish and while in the process of deceiving others, they also deceive themselves.

The number forty-two symbolized the time Christ walked upon the earth. This was the revealing of the transition from the Levitical order into the Melchisedec order. It was the bringing to a close one event while revealing another. I will elaborate more with the number forty-two in the following chapters.

Those who accepted the SAVIOR as the Lamb of Yahweh became spiritual Jews, and the Jews who did not accept the SAVIOR as the Lamb joined the rest of the unbelievers, thereby, becoming Gentiles.

Rom. 3:28-31, Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the acts (deeds) of the law. Is he the God of the Jews only? is he not also of the Gentiles? Yes, of the Gentiles also: seeing it is one God, which shall justify the circumcision by faith, and uncircumcision through faith. Do we then make void the law through faith? Yahweh forbid: yea, we establish the law. (See also 1 Cor. 12:12-13.)

The physical temple in Jerusalem continued to be a place of worship before it was destroyed in A.D. 70. Those who gathered there were bound by their carnal understanding.

Gal. 4:22-26, For it is written, that Abraham had two sons, the one by a bondmaid, the other by a freewoman. But he who was of the bondwoman was born after the flesh; but he of the freewoman was by promise. Which things are an allegory: for these are the two covenants; the one from the mount Sinai, which genders to bondage, which is Hagar. For this Hagar is Mount Sinai in Arabia, and answers to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children. But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all.
Yahweh’s spiritual city can be compared to a natural city. It, too, is a place where people live, work, and are educated. It has a government which provides services to those who live there. There are rules and regulations, called ordinances, which govern his city. It has many dwelling places, but is controlled by a single government.

In the City of the Living God, the Holy Spirit is the guide through its streets, he is the teacher in its schools, and he is the supervisor of those that labor there. The Holy Spirit works through his administrators to maintain his Holy City. The twelfth chapter of first Corinthians and the fourth chapter of Ephesians explain the government of the City of the Living God.

The first temple in the City of Yahweh was our SAVIOR as he walked upon the earth; he was the Governor of the Holy City. He was the founder and builder of this city.

Isa. 9:6-7, Unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even forever. The zeal of Yahweh of hosts will perform this.

He was the physical manifestation of the government of the Spirit of Righteousness and Peace. He did not walk according to flesh, but according to the authority and character of his FATHER. He, the Son, came in his FATHER’s name to establish his Kingdom in earth. At his baptism, John testified that he was the Son of Yahweh.

John 1:32-34, John bare record, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him. And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, “Upon whom you shall see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizes with the Holy Spirit. And I saw, and bare record that this is the Son of Yahweh.

The Son of Yahweh set up Yahweh’s government; he established his Kingdom of Righteousness on earth. The Holy City was trampled, that is, the Kingdom principles which the SAVIOR taught were rejected and the Word of Yahweh was crucified both in the natural and spiritual.

The brazen altar outside the temple was left in tack for whosoever will. The SAVIOR ministered for three and half years as a man and at that time what he taught was not accepted as truth, it was trampled under their feet. The SAVIOR came unto Israel, and they did not receive him as their Savior (John 1:10-11); they rejected the Word of Truth.

11:3 And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth.
This third verse should have been translated as, “I gave my two witnesses to prophesy 1,260 days clothed in sackcloth.”

The two witnesses were the ceremonial laws and the prophets. Both were witnesses for Yahweh and they both prophesied of the SAVIOR.

Heb. 10:1, For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect.

Rom. 3:20-21, Therefore by the actions (deeds) of the “law” there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the “law” is the knowledge of sin. But now the righteousness of Yahweh without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets.
Matt. 11:13, All the prophets and the law prophesied until John.
The ceremonial laws and the prophets were satisfied and finished in the SAVIOR.
Matt. 5:17, Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill (finish).

In the above scripture, the SAVIOR was not talking about the Ten Commandments being fulfilled in him, even though he did not break one commandment, he was dealing with the ceremonial laws being fulfilled in him. He was the substance of the shadow.

Heb 10:8-10, When he said, Sacrifice and offering and burnt offerings and offering for sin you would not, neither had pleasure therein; which are offered by the law; then said he, Lo, I come to do your will, O Yahweh. He takes away the first (covenant), that he may establish the second (covenant). By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of the SAVIOR the Anointed once for all.
Heb. 10:1, The law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect.
Eph. 2:15-18, Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace; and that he might reconcile both unto Yahweh in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby: and came and preached peace to you which were afar off (Gentiles), and to them that were nigh (Jews). For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.

The entire Tabernacle in the Wilderness with its ceremonies was a witness of Yahweh.

Num. 9:15, On the day that the tabernacle was reared up the cloud covered the tabernacle, namely, the tent of the witness (testimony): and at even there was upon the tabernacle as it were the appearance of fire, until the morning.
Deut. 31:24-26, It came to pass, when Moses had made an end of writing the words of this law in a book, until they were finished, that Moses commanded the Levites, which bare the ark of the covenant of Yahweh, saying, “Take this book of the law, and put it in the side of the ark of the covenant of Yahweh your God, that it may be there for a witness against you.
Ex. 38:21, This is the sum of the tabernacle, even of the tabernacle of witness (testimony), as it was counted, according to the commandment of Moses, for the service of the Levites, by the hand of Ithamar, son to Aaron the priest.
Num. 18:1-3, Yahweh said unto Aaron, “You and your sons and your father’s house with you shall bear the iniquity of the sanctuary: and you and your sons with you shall bear the iniquity of your priesthood. And your brethren also of the tribe of Levi, the tribe of your father, bring thou with you, that they may be joined unto you, and minister unto you: but you and your sons with you shall minister before the tabernacle of witness. And they shall keep your charge, and the charge of all the tabernacle: only they shall not come nigh the vessels of the sanctuary and the altar, that neither they, nor you also, die.”

The ceremonial laws were the manner in which Yahweh governed the Israelites, it was a shadow of the new government that the SAVIOR established in earth.

Being clothed in sackcloth was the Israelite’s symbol of mourning over a death or a calamity. It was also worn at a time of confession and grief over sin. (See Gen. 37:34; Joel 1:8; Est. 4:1-4; 1 Kings 21:27.)

The two witnesses prophesied for 1,260 days in mourning, which was the same length of time that the SAVIOR ministered upon the earth. He spoke of the ending of one age and the birth of a new age—which was, the Kingdom of Yahweh. The two witnesses wearing sackcloth symbolized the ending of the Levitical order and the revealing of the Kingdom of Yahweh. The Levitical order was over and the new order revealed their sins, it brought them into a different state of mind.

Matt. 4:17, From that time the SAVIOR began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand (near).
Matt. 10:5-8, These twelve the SAVIOR sent forth, and commanded them, saying, “Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not: but go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. And as you go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand. Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely you have received, freely give.
Mark 1:15, And saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of Yahweh is at hand (near): repent ye, and believe the gospel.”
Luke 17:20-21, And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of Yahweh should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of Yahweh comes not with observation: neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of Yahweh is within you.
Rom. 14:18, For the kingdom of Yahweh is not meat and drink (meat and drink offerings); but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit.

11:4 These (two witnesses) are the two olive trees (anointed leaders), and the two lamp stands (candlesticks) (light bearers) standing before the god of the earth.

Zechariah also had a vision of two olive trees associated with two lamp stands. He was told that they symbolized the two anointed ones that stood before the controller (Israel) of the earth.
Zec. 4:11-14, Then answered I, and said unto him, “What are these two olive trees upon the right side of the lamp stand (candlestick) and upon the left side thereof?” And I answered again, and said unto him, “What be these two olive branches which through the two golden pipes empty the golden oil out of themselves?” And he answered me and said, “Know you not what these be?” And I said, “No, my lord.” Then said he, “These are the two anointed ones, that stand by the controller (LORD) of the whole earth.”
Isa. 43:1 and 10, This said Yahweh that created you, O Jacob, and he that formed you, O Israel, “Fear not: for I have redeemed you, I have called you by your name; you are mine…. You are my witnesses, says Yahweh, and my servant whom I have chosen: that you may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no god formed, neither shall there be after me. (Read 1 through 10 for better understanding.)
Trees were symbolic of leaders.
Ps. 1:1-3, Blessed is the man that walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of Yahweh; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. (Also see Isa. 61:3.)
Ps. 92:12-15, The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon. Those that be planted in the house of Yahweh shall flourish in the courts of our God. They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat and flourishing; to show that Yahweh is upright: he is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him.

Here, the two witnesses are standing before the god of the earth and not the God of heaven. Israel was Yahweh’s light-bearer; Israel was the god of the earth.

Deut. 14:2, You (Israel) are an holy people unto Yahweh your God, and Yahweh has chosen you to be a peculiar people unto himself, above all the nations that are upon the earth. (Also see Exod. 19:5-6).
Exod. 4:22, Israel is my son, even my firstborn.
Ps. 89:27, I will make him my firstborn, higher than the kings of the earth.
Ps. 82:6-8, I have said, “You are gods; and all of you are children of the most High. But you shall die like men, and fall like one of the princes. Arise, O god, judge the earth: for you shall inherit all nations.”

Even though Yahweh had placed Israel above other nations in authority and called them gods, they were still only human.

The laws and prophets were administrated through carnal men; they were symbolized as olive trees because they were Yahweh’s anointed instruments of leadership.

Num 1:50-51, You (Moses) shall appoint the Levites over the Tabernacle of Witness (testimony), and over all the vessels thereof, and over all things that belong to it: they shall bear the tabernacle, and all the vessels thereof; and they shall minister unto it, and shall encamp round about the tabernacle. And when the tabernacle sets forward, the Levites shall take it down: and when the tabernacle is to be pitched, the Levites shall set it up: and the stranger that comes nigh shall be put to death.

John 1:17, The law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by the Anointed SAVIOR.

11:5 And if any man will hurt the two witnesses, fire proceeds out of their mouth, and devours their enemies: and if any man will hurt them, he must in this manner be killed.

Here, Yahweh’s two witnesses, the ceremonial laws and the anointed leaders, appear to be working contrary to the very principle of love that his Son taught and manifested; therefore, it stands to reason that this verse has a deeper meaning than what first appears because a house divided against itself cannot stand. The SAVIOR taught principles of righteousness and peace.

Matt. 5:38-44, You have heard that it has been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth: but I say unto you, That you resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite you on your right cheek, turn to him the other also. And if any man will sue you at the law, and take away your coat, let him have thy cloak also. And whosoever shall compel you to go a mile, go with him twain. Give to him that asks you, and from him that would borrow of you turn not thou away. You have heard that it has been said, You shall love your neighbor, and hate your enemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, (bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you,) and pray for them which (despitefully use you, and) persecute you.

The word “hurt” means to be unjust, that is, to actively do wrong morally, socially, or physically. To hurt the two witnesses there had to have been a grievance with the ceremonial laws and the words of the prophets. Since the Old Testament prophets were dead and could not be hurt physically, the grievance then had to be against what they prophesied. To hurt the ceremonial laws one had to come against what it stood for, which was Christ reconciling mankind to the FATHER—bringing them into his image.

Keep in mind that at this time the ceremonial laws is still active and the prophets are still prophesying; and their prophecies have not yet been fulfilled. The enemies of the ceremonial laws and of the prophets are those who are opposing and altering the Words and intentions of Yahweh. Those that hurt the laws and the prophets were alienated from truth and are enemies of righteousness (Col. 1:29; Isa. 59:1-4).

James 4:1-4, From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members? You lust, and have not: you kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: you fight and war, yet you have not, because you ask not. You ask, and receive not, because you ask amiss, that you may consume it upon your lusts. You adulterers and adulteresses, know you not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of Yahweh.

The fire that proceeded from the mouths of the two witnesses was not a literal fire. It was their message of rebuke that brought condemnation upon the people. This fire had a twofold meaning: it not only brought judgment, it also cleansed from sin.

Zech. 13:8-9, And it shall come to pass, that in all the land, says Yahweh, two parts therein shall be cut off and die; but the third shall be left therein. And I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, It is my people: and they shall say, Yahweh is my God.

1 Cor 3:10-16, According to the grace of Yahweh which is given unto me, as a wise master builder, I have laid the foundation, and another builds thereon. But let every man take heed how he builds thereupon. For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is the Anointed SAVIOR. Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is. If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire. Know ye not that you are the temple of Yahweh, and that the Spirit of Yahweh dwells in you?

Because it was impossible for the sacrificial laws and the prophets to bring deliverance from sin, Israel’s own actions were a constant reminder of their weaknesses and sinfulness. Their carnal minds, which can never be in agreement with righteousness, were hostile against righteousness; (Rom. 8:7-8). Before the Holy Spirit came, there had never a time that the people did not have to offer sacrifices for their sins because the death of the animals they sacrificed could not bring them deliverance from carnality. The ceremonial laws and the words of the prophets demanded a principle that the carnal minds could not live up to and at the same time brought judgment and only a covering for their sins.

Heb 10:1, The law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect (complete).
Heb. 9:6-10, Now when these things were thus ordained, the priests went always into the first tabernacle, accomplishing the service of Yahweh. But into the second went the high priest alone once every year, not without blood, which he offered for himself, and for the errors of the people: The Holy Ghost this signifying, that the way into the holiest of all was not yet made manifest, while as the first tabernacle was yet standing: which was a figure for the time then present, in which were offered both gifts and sacrifices, that could not make him that did the service perfect, as pertaining to the conscience; which stood only in meats and drinks, and divers washings, and carnal ordinances, imposed on them until the time of reformation.

The Israelites willingly fulfilled the ceremonial laws, but now they were being forced to see it as a shadow of themselves as the temple of Yahweh. As they looked at the ceremonial laws and all that it represented and accomplished, and as they were reminded of the words of Yahweh that came through his prophets, many came against John’s evaluation of the temple of Yahweh, because it judged and condemned them in their state of carnality.

11:6 These (the witnesses) have power to shut heaven, that it rain not in the days of their prophecy: and have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to smite the earth with all calamities (plagues), as often as they will.

The rain symbolized Yahweh’s blessing in obedience to his Word—a living manifestation of the Word of truth.

Deut. 28:9-14, Yahweh shall establish you an holy people unto himself, as he has sworn unto you, if you shall keep the commandments of Yahweh your God, and walk in his ways. And all people of the earth shall see that you are called by the name of Yahweh; and they shall be afraid of you. And Yahweh shall make you plenteous in goods, in the fruit of your body, and in the fruit of your cattle, and in the fruit of your ground, in the land which Yahweh swore unto your fathers to give you. Yahweh shall open unto you his good treasure, the heaven to give the rain unto your land in his season, and to bless all the work of your hand: and you shall lend unto many nations, and you shall not borrow. And Yahweh shall make you the head, and not the tail; and you shall be above only, and you shall not be beneath; if that you hearken unto the commandments of Yahweh your God, which I command you this day, to observe and to do them: and you shall not go aside from any of the words which I command you this day, to the right hand, or to the left, to go after other gods to serve them.
Ezek. 34:26, And I will make them and the places round about my hill a blessing; and I will cause the shower to come down in his season; there shall be showers of blessing.
Deut. 32:1-3, Give ear, O you heavens, and I will speak; and hear, O earth, the words of my mouth. My doctrine shall drop as the rain, my speech shall distil as the dew, as the small rain upon the tender herb, and as the showers upon the grass: because I will publish the name of Yahweh: ascribe you greatness unto our God.

The holding back of the rain symbolized the anointing upon the Levitical order. It was Yahweh’s way of drawing the Israelite’s attention to their lack and forcing them to feel the need for Yahweh’s leadership instead of him passing over their sins (Amos 4:6-7; 1 Kings 17:1; Jer. 3:3). The laws and the prophets were used as mediators between Yahweh and mankind. The ceremonial laws and prophets, the anointed Word, caused the heavens to be shut to the natural minds—the natural minds could not and would never be able to understand the things of the Spirit of Righteousness—there had to be a born from above experience.

Gal. 3:19-24, Wherefore then serves the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by messengers (angels) in the hand of a mediator. Now a mediator is not a mediator of one, but Yahweh is one. Is the law then against the promises of Yahweh? Yahweh forbid: for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law. But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of the Anointed SAVIOR might be given to them that believe. But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed. Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.

2 Cor. 3:7, Who also has made us able ministers of the new covenant (testament); not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.

Yahweh communicated with Israel through the laws and the prophets. His communication was to teach them righteous principles, for reproof, for correction, and for instruction (2 Tim. 3:16-17).

Prov. 3:5-13, Trust in Yahweh with all your heart; and lean not unto your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct your paths. Be not wise in your own eyes: reverence (fear) Yahweh, and depart from evil. It shall be health to your navel, and marrow to your bones. Honor Yahweh with your substance, and with the firstfruits of all your increase: so shall your barns be filled with plenty, and your presses shall burst out with new wine. My son, despise not the chastening of Yahweh; neither be weary of his correction: for whom Yahweh loves he corrects; even as a father the son in whom he delights. Happy is the man that finds wisdom, and the man that gets understanding.

The anointed Word manifested in flesh (the SAVIOR) told the people how to love one another and get along. It told them how to have good health by showing them what was good to eat as well as how their attitudes affected their physical bodies. It told them how to plant and harvest their crops; therefore, getting the best out of their land. When the people were obedient to the Word, the results were their blessings. The Word was a lamp unto their feet and light unto their path (Ps. 119:105). To disobey Yahweh’s Word brought destruction, corruption, wars, fightings, etc. caused by their own hands.

The ceremonial laws and the prophets revealed to the Israelites their inability to control their lower nature. It was impossible for them to be righteous because they were controlled by the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eye, and the pride of life. They walked after the desires of their hearts and not after the righteousness of Yahweh.

The two witnesses also had power to turn the water to blood. Water is symbolic of the spiritual Word, the water was turned into blood when the SAVIOR was born—he was Yahweh’s Word made flesh (John 1:14). He fulfilled the laws and the prophets (Matt. 5:17). To fulfill the ceremonial laws and the prophets he walked in them. He did not vary one jot or one tittle from them (Matt. 5:18-19)—the water was turned to blood—he was a “visible” manifestation of the Spirit of Righteousness.

The smiting of the earth symbolized the correction given through the Word when the SAVIOR manifested Yahweh in the earth.

Isa, 11:1-5, There shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots: and the Spirit of Yahweh shall rest upon him, the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and of the reverence (fear) of Yahweh; and shall make him of quick understanding in the reverence (fear) of Yahweh: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears: but with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked. And righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins, and faithfulness the girdle of his reins.

The two witnesses could not physically smite someone or an object because they were not tangle. The smiting with a calamity had to come forth from what was prophesied. The calamities were caused by Truth revealing the secrets of their hearts.

11:7 And when the witnesses shall have finished their witnessing (testimony), the beast that ascended out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them.

These beasts (locusts) that came up out of the bottomless pit are the same beasts that were released by the SAVIOR in chapter nine. They symbolize the carnal leaders, the unbelieving Jews, that were in confusion and yet given positions of honor. These locusts were only given power to “sting” their enemies in chapter nine, but now they are given power to “kill” the two witnesses. The killing of the witnesses was not a natural killing done by physical swords; it was when the unbelieving Jews refused to accept the reality of the ceremonial laws and the prophecies. They crucified the Word, the manifestation of the Kingdom of Yahweh.

11:8 And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified.

The ceremonial laws and the words of the prophets were completed, which means that which they were testifying of was starting to happen—the SAVIOR was going to put an end to the ceremonial laws and fulfill the prophecies. In

Matthew 5:17-18 the SAVIOR tells us that his mission was to fulfill the laws and the prophet. In John 17:4, right before he was to be crucified, the SAVIOR said to his FATHER, “I have finished the work which you gave me to do.” In John 19:28, when the SAVIOR was on the cross, it said that all things were accomplished that he had to do.

The book of Hebrews explains how the laws were a shadow and how the SAVIOR became the substance of that shadow. Often the scriptures make reference to a prophet when a certain event confirms that the prophecy is fulfilled.

Matt. 1:20-23, While Joseph thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shall call his name SAVIOR: for he shall save his people from their sins. Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, “Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel,” which being interpreted is, Yahweh with us.
Matt. 2:14-18, When Joseph arose, he took the young child and his mother by night, and departed into Egypt: and was there until the death of Herod: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Out of Egypt have I called my son. Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked of the wise men, was exceeding wroth, and sent forth, and slew all the children that were in Bethlehem, and in all the coasts thereof, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had diligently inquired of the wise men. Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremiah (Jeremy) the prophet, saying, “In Rama was there a voice heard, (lamentation, and) weeping, and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children, and would not be comforted, because they are not.”
Matt. 2:23, Joseph came and dwelt in a city called Nazareth: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophets, “He shall be called a Nazarene.”
Matt. 4:12-16, When the SAVIOR had heard that John was cast into prison, he departed into Galilee; and leaving Nazareth, he came and dwelt in Capernaum, which is upon the sea coast, in the borders of Zabulon and Nephthalim: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah (Esaias) the prophet, saying, “The land of Zabulon, and the land of Nephthalim, by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles; the people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up.”
Matt. 8:16-17, When the even was come, the multitude brought unto the SAVIOR many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick: That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah (Esaias) the prophet, saying, “Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.”
Matt. 12:14-21, Then the Pharisees went out, and held a council against him, how they might destroy him. But when the SAVIOR knew it, he withdrew himself from thence: and great multitudes followed him, and he healed them all; and charged them that they should not make him known: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah (Esaias) the prophet, saying, “Behold my servant, whom I have chosen; my beloved, in whom my soul is well pleased: I will put my spirit upon him, and he shall show judgment to the Gentiles. He shall not strive, nor cry; neither shall any man hear his voice in the streets. A bruised reed shall he not break, and smoking flax shall he not quench, till he send forth judgment unto victory. And in his name shall the Gentiles trust.”
Matt. 13:34-35, All these things spoke the SAVIOR unto the multitude in parables; and without a parable spoke he not unto them: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, “I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter things which have been kept secret from the foundation of the world.”
Matt. 21:2-5, Saying unto them, Go into the village over against you, and straightway you shall find an ass tied, and a colt with her: loose them, and bring them unto me. And if any man say ought unto you, you shall say, The Lord has need of them; and straightway he will send them. All this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, “Tell you the daughter of Zion (Sion), Behold, your King comes unto you, meek, and sitting upon an ass, and a colt the foal of an ass.”
Matt. 26:50-56, The SAVIOR said unto him, Friend, wherefore art thou come? Then came they, and laid hands on the SAVIOR, and took him. And, behold, one of them which were with the SAVIOR stretched out his hand, and drew his sword, and struck a servant of the high priest’s, and smote off his ear. Then said the SAVIOR unto him (Peter), Put up again your sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword. You think that I cannot now pray to my FATHER, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels? But how then shall the scriptures be fulfilled, that thus it must be? In that same hour said the SAVIOR to the multitudes, Are you come out as against a thief with swords and staves for to take me? I sat daily with you teaching in the temple, and you laid no hold on me. But all this was done, that the scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled. Then all the disciples forsook him, and fled.
Matt. 27:3-10, Then Judas, which had betrayed the SAVIOR, when he saw that he was condemned, repented himself, and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders, Saying, I have sinned in that I have betrayed the innocent blood. And they said, What is that to us? see thou to that. And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and hanged himself. And the chief priests took the silver pieces, and said, It is not lawful for to put them into the treasury, because it is the price of blood. And they took counsel, and bought with them the potter’s field, to bury strangers in. Wherefore that field was called, The field of blood, unto this day. Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremiah (Jeremy) the prophet, saying, “And they took the thirty pieces of silver, the price of him that was valued, whom they of the children of Israel did value; and gave them for the potter’s field, as the Lord appointed me.”
John 19:23-24, Then the soldiers, when they had crucified the SAVIOR, took his garments, and made four parts, to every soldier a part; and also his coat: now the coat was without seam, woven from the top throughout. They said therefore among themselves, Let us not rend it, but cast lots for it, whose it shall be: that the scripture might be fulfilled, which said, “They parted my raiment among them, and for my vesture they did cast lots.” These things therefore the soldiers did.
John 19:33-37, When the soldiers came to the SAVIOR, and saw that he was dead already, they broke not his legs: but one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water. And he that saw it bare record, and his record is true: and he knows that he said true, that you might believe. For these things were done, that the scripture should be fulfilled, “A bone of him shall not be broken.” And again another scripture said, “They shall look on him whom they pierced.”

The witnesses lay dead, the anointed Word coming from Yahweh’s types and shadows had been rejected, in the street of corruption (Sodom) and bondage (Egypt). Notice the city is called the “great city” and not the Holy City and the angel also made it clear that it was the place where the SAVIOR was crucified.

According to the 18th chapter of John, he was sentenced in Jerusalem by the Jews, but died on the cross just outside of Jerusalem in a place called “the Skull,” which was also Golgotha and Calvary. The crucifixion spoken of here is not the SAVIOR’s literal death; it was the unbelieving Jews crucifying the word of the prophets and the reality of the ceremonial laws. Because of their rebellion they crucified their SAVIOR. Corrupted and carnal minds bound in bondage to their fleshly nature killed the two witnesses by not accepting truth. Man meant it for evil but Yahweh used it for good (See Gen. 50:21).

Matt. 23:37, O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you that killed the prophets, and stoned them which are sent unto you, how often would I have gathered your children together, even as a hen gathers her chickens under her wings, and you would not!
Acts 7:51-53, You stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, you do always resist the Holy Spirit: as your fathers did, so do you. Which of the prophets have not your fathers persecuted? and they have slain them which showed before of the coming of the Just One; of whom you have been now the betrayers and murderers: who have received the law by the disposition of messengers (angels), and have not kept it.

11:9 And they of the people and kindreds and tongues and nations shall see their lifeless (dead) bodies three days and an half, and shall not suffer their lifeless (dead) bodies to be put in graves.

The people saw that the ceremonial laws had lost its anointing, but still the unbelieving Jews refused to let it go.

10 And they that dwell upon the earth shall rejoice over them, and make merry, and shall send gifts (sacrifices) one to another; because these two prophets tormented them that dwelt on the earth.

The gentiles, those upon the earth, were glad that the ceremonial laws were no more in effect because it brought condemnation upon them. To them it was condescending and they did not see any lack in their lives or a need for a Savior.

Remember the two witnesses were also the two lamp stands (lights) and the two olive trees (leaders, prophets) that stood before the god of the earth (Israel). Now these shadows of the true light are no longer anointed, therefore, they have no light. The reality, the SAVIOR, is now the Light of the world, but the unbelieving Israelites do not accept him as their Messiah.

If a dead body is not buried, it stays visible for awhile. It doesn’t give nor take; but it does, however, show evidence that it once had life. The ceremonial laws and the words of the prophets had been mediators between man and Yahweh, by the Anointing they had Life in them. They pointed toward the reality of the SAVIOR.

Ex 29:42-46, This shall be a continual burnt offering throughout your generations at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation before Yahweh: where I will meet you, to speak there unto you. And there I will meet with the children of Israel, and the tabernacle shall be sanctified by my glory. And I will sanctify the tabernacle of the congregation, and the altar: I will sanctify also both Aaron and his sons, to minister to me in the priest’s office. And I will dwell among the children of Israel, and will be their God. And they shall know that I am Yahweh their God, that brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, that I may dwell among them: I am Yahweh their God.

Even as the ceremonial laws and the words of the prophets were being fulfilled in the SAVIOR, the unbelieving Israelites did not accept him as their Messiah. These unbelievers disannulled (killed) the reality of the ceremonial laws and the prophets. The Anointed Word made manifest in the physical body of the SAVIOR was alive and well in the earth for 3 ½ years, but they walked on him as an adversary and saw him as dead, that is, lifeless.

Yahweh no longer needed the ceremonial laws and the prophets as mediators to communicate with his people; he desired to write the laws and his anointed words in their minds and hearts—to be a part of their nature, that is, to be alive in them. By allowing the laws and the prophets to be written in their hearts and minds, they became living epistles known and read of all men.

2 Cor. 3:2-6, You are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men: forasmuch as you are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Anointed (Christ) ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart. And such trust have we through Anointed (Christ) to God-ward: not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think anything as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of Yahweh; who also has made us able ministers of the new covenant (testament); not of the letter, but of the Spirit: for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives Life.
Heb. 8:6-11, Now has Yahweh obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises. For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second. For finding fault with them, he said, “Behold, the days come,” said Yahweh, “when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah:” not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not, said Yahweh. For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, said the Lord; “I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people: and they shall not teach every man his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest.”

The continual practice of the ceremonial laws did not bring perfection to those practicing them—they remained in their sins. No matter how many sacrifices they offered for each other, or how much they rejoiced in their feast days, it did not deliver them from their beastly nature.

Copied from “The Light Within” by Brenda Mitchell.
Only the sacrifice of our beastly nature is accepted as an offering unto Yahweh. The lamb was sacrificed as a symbol of our fleshly nature. But the blood, that which supplied the life of the animal, was saved and used to save the firstborn.

Christ, the Word made manifest in flesh, came in flesh and allowed his flesh to be crucified as a symbol of our animal nature. This did away with the physical practice of animal sacrifices and began the spiritual exercise of the Word being made one with us; bringing us into the image of the FATHER.

We are told to symbolically drink the life blood of Christ in the form of wine. He wants us to understand that his Life-force, his life’s blood, is that which will supply nourishment into our spirit, to our intellect.

We are not to kill people or animals as a sacrifice unto Yahweh. Because of man’s inability to understand that he was spirit living in a temple that needed to be made alive, the angels used the natural to reveal the spiritual concept.

Galatians 3:19 explains why, saying, “Wherefore then serveth the law (sacrificial law)? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed (Christ) should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained (prescribed) by messengers (angels) in the hand of a mediator.”

The three and a half days, the forty-two months, and the 1,260 days is symbolic of the time of transition. It is the bringing to a close of one event to reveal a greater.

The ceremonial laws were a type and shadow of the SAVIOR; it was a shadow of the Kingdom of Righteousness in which the SAVIOR came to establish. Its spiritual reality was lost through the carnal mind of man–carnality crucified the message intended. Yahweh’s intentions were distorted from Adam until Christ. Up until the SAVIOR came, the FATHER had passed over their sins because they were unable to comprehend truth. But when the SAVIOR came as a visible manifestation of the FATHER, they had no excuse to remain in their lust. He brought judgment upon the sin.

Up until the SAVIOR was thirty years old, his ministry did not stir up the Jews against him. His righteous living did not stir their hearts nor did it cause them to want to kill him. He attended their synagogues and shared from the Sacred Writings just as other leaders had. But after the SAVIOR was baptized, the people’s attitude toward him changed. So what was the difference? The war began when he stood before the people proclaiming to be the Anointed One, the Deliverer in whom Isaiah had prophesied of.

Luke 4:17-22, 28-29, There was delivered unto the SAVIOR the book of the prophet Isaiah. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, to preach the acceptable year of the Lord.” And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him. And he began to say unto them, “This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.” And all bare him witness, and wondered at the gracious words which proceeded out of his mouth. And they said, Is not this Joseph’s son?…. And all they in the synagogue, when they heard these things, were filled with wrath, and rose up, and thrust him out of the city, and led him unto the brow of the hill whereon their city was built, that they might cast him down headlong.
The proclamation “This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears” entailed more then what many heard. It was the fulfillment of all the prophecies concerning the coming of a Messiah (Anointed SAVIOR). The leaders that were well learned in the words of the prophets understood his message clearly. They knew he was proclaiming his position as their King, their High Priest, and their Redeemer. From this time on the laws and the prophets began to be trampled upon by the unbelieving Israelites. They rejected their Redeemer and sought to kill him. By rejecting him, they also rejected the prophets’ words as being fulfilled in the SAVIOR. They also rejected the ceremonial laws by not believing that he was the substance of the figure. The 3 ½ years that the SAVIOR walked the face of the earth is the reality of the prophets lying dead for 3 ½ days in the street of corruption and bondage.
As the Anointed SAVIOR went from city to city proclaiming the good news of deliverance, he was rejected even though many followed him for the loaves and the fishes.

During the same 3 ½ years that the SAVIOR ministered, the laws and the prophets were clothed in sackcloth (in mourning) because the Levitical order was over—the end of the Levitical age had come.

Heb. 9:22-26, Almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission. It was therefore necessary that the patterns of things in the heavens should be purified with these; but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these. For the Anointed (Christ) is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of Yahweh for us: nor yet that he should offer himself often, as the high priest enters into the holy place every year with blood of others; for then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the age (world) has he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.
Gal. 4:5, When the fullness of the time (that age) was come, Yahweh sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, to redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons. (The end of that age came when the SAVIOR was born.)
1 John 2:18, Little children, it is the last time: and as you have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.

The Israelites were looking for the Messiah to triumph over all their enemies and bring them to a perfect state of peace and happiness. They looked for their salvation to come from the literal killing of their enemies, even as some people do today. They thought that the state of peace and happiness could only be obtained by seeing those who persecuted them killed or tortured.

They believed their king would come from royalty with vengeance in his veins, killing their enemies with a sword where ever he went. By his power they would become victorious over all their enemies. But the only sword the SAVIOR used was the Word of Yahweh (Eph. 6:17).

Isa 11:1-5, There shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots: and the Spirit of Yahweh shall rest upon him, the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of Yahweh; and shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of Yahweh: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears: but with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked. And righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins, and faithfulness the girdle of his reins.

The SAVIOR’s words were sharper and more powerful than any two-edged sword, they brought judgment upon his listeners; he pierced their hearts with truth.

Heb. 4:12, The word of Yahweh is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

The two witnesses (laws and prophets) stood before the Israelite nation (the god of the earth). They had the power to destroy the laws and prophets because they were the ones that were the light of the earth (lamp stands). By Israel’s influence, many could have become believers, but because of the condition of their hearts and minds they made the laws and the prophets of no effect—they killed the two witnesses.

Matt. 23:13. But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for you shut up the Kingdom of Heaven against men: for you neither go in yourselves, neither suffer you them that are entering to go in.

The SAVIOR was not dealing with a literal door being shut in the scripture above. He was telling the Pharisees they were the ones that shut the Kingdom of Yahweh for others because they proclaimed to be leaders of Yahweh, but their actions revealed otherwise.

The 3 ½ years the two witnesses lay dead on the street of corruption and bondage and the 3 ½ years the two witnesses mourned in sackcloth actually took place at the same time. The Levitical order was coming to an end and the corrupt leaders refused to accept and proclaim that the Messiah had truly come; therefore, they tramped on the two witnesses—which were the ceremonial laws and the prophets.

11:11 And after three days and an half the Spirit of life from Yahweh entered into them, and they stood upon their feet; and great fear fell upon them which saw them.

On the day of Pentecost, the SAVIOR fulfilled the anointed words of the prophets and put an end to the ceremonial laws—the voice of Yahweh was no longer heard from the mercy seat. The laws and the prophets were no longer mediators between Yahweh and man. The two witnesses did not give life in corruption and bondage. The ceremonial laws and the prophets were dead as long as the people remained in sin. The blood of bulls could not redeem them.

The SAVIOR fulfilled the ceremonial laws on the day of Pentecost when he became the substance of the shadow; he was that Tabernacle of Witness spoke of in Acts 7:44. He fulfilled that which was spoken by the prophets.

Heb. 8:1-6, Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum: We have such an high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens; a minister of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, and not man. For every high priest is ordained to offer gifts and sacrifices: wherefore it is of necessity that this man have somewhat also to offer. For if the SAVIOR were on earth, he should not be a priest, seeing that there are priests that offer gifts according to the law: who serve unto the example and shadow of heavenly things, as Moses was admonished of Yahweh when he was about to make the tabernacle: for, See, he said, that you make all things according to the pattern showed to you in the mount. But now has he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises.
Luke 24:27, Beginning at Moses and all the prophets, the SAVIOR expounded unto them (two of his disciples) in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.
Luke 24:44-49, And he said unto them (his disciples), These are the words which I spoke unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me. Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures, and said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behooved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. And ye are witnesses of these things. And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until you be endued with power from on high.
Acts 3:18, Those things, which Yahweh before had showed by the mouth of all his prophets, that Christ should suffer, he has so fulfilled.

This is the time the Holy Spirit fell—the Anointing made its abode in the believers. Now they would be the prophets, they would be the lights of truth. The Holy Spirit working in them would cleanse them from their sins and bring them into the image of their Heavenly FATHER.

11:12 And they heard a great voice from heaven saying unto them, Come up hither. And they ascended up to heaven in a cloud; and their enemies beheld them.

Notice that the two witnesses ascended up to heaven in a cloud and their enemies beheld them. The cloud symbolized the presence of Yahweh’s power and glory being revealed through the believers. Here we see the laws and the prophets being exalted into the higher realm of the Spirit. “Their enemies beholding them” signifies that the believers became a living manifestation of the laws and the prophets. The laws and the prophets were fulfilled in the believers, and their enemies witnessed it when they persecuted the believers for their stand for righteousness.

The two witnesses that represented the ceremonial laws and prophets were exalted; they were now seen with spiritual eyes. Yahweh’s tabernacle was within the hearts of mankind. The prophets’ messages were understood by the Spirit of Revelation and not by a carnal understanding. The spiritual understanding did not disannul the prophecies; it brought them up into the heavens allowing the Holy Spirit to reveal the Spirit of his Word as well as the spiritual understanding of the tabernacle in the wilderness.

This call to come up higher was to receive the Spirit of Revelation—to put on the mind of Christ.

The brazen altar was no longer just wood and brass for beast to be sacrificed on; it became the sacrifice of the fleshly nature. No longer was the laver just brass with its water for washing, it became a baptism into the Anointed; the washing away of sinful flesh as one became a new man after the likeness of the Creator. No longer was the golden lamp stand with its oil just a golden stand with seven lamps, it became Christians with the anointing oil of Truth giving light to all nations. The table of showbread became the Word, the Bread of Life, eaten from the Mater’s table. The altar of incense became the praise and worship of Yahweh’s believers. The Ark of the Covenant had taken on a whole new meaning; the “anointed” believers became the Ark (holder) of the Covenant (promise).

In Romans 3:25 the word “propitiation” means Ark of the Covenant. The ceremonial laws and prophets were brought to Life—Yahweh’s promise of Life dwelling in mankind gave them power over sin and death. The types, shadows, and allegories became a reality; the fulfillment of the prophecies came to pass, but they were not seen nor understood by the carnal minds of man—Yahweh set up his Kingdom on earth in earthen vessels.
Paul ministered by using an Old Testament story as an allegory:

Gal. 4:22-26, It is written, that Abraham had two sons, the one by a bondmaid, the other by a freewoman. But he who was of the bondwoman was born after the flesh; but he of the freewoman was by promise. Which things are an allegory: for these are the two covenants; the one from the mount Sinai, which genders to bondage, which is Agar. For this Agar is mount Sinai in Arabia, and answers to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children. But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all.

This allegory was about some very real people; the Holy Spirit used natural events in order to reveal spiritual truths. Moses had to build the tabernacle in the wilderness exactly like Yahweh told him to in order for it to be a true allegory of Yahweh’s house. The covenant (law) had to be presented in a specific manner in order to give a true image of its spiritual meaning.

Heb 9:28-10:1, The Anointed was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation. For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect.
James 1:18, Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.
Col. 2:16-17, Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the Sabbath days: which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of the Anointed.
Most of the book of Hebrews shows the allegory of the ceremonial laws given to Israel. The writer of Hebrews ministered from the heavenly realm using it to bring his readers to a higher realm of understanding.

Forty-two months symbolized the transitional time for deliverance; a process or a period of something undergoing a change from one state, stage, form or activity to another. It was the bringing to a close of one event to reveal another.

The SAVIOR ministered forty-two months and afterwards he was exalted and brought deliverance to mankind from their bondage of sin. The Holy City was tread under foot forty-two months and afterwards it was seen in the heavens. The two witnesses, which represented the law and the prophets, prophesied forty-two months and afterwards their prophecies were understood in the spiritual realm. The two witnesses lay dead in the streets of Sodom (corruption) and Egypt (bondage) signified man’s inability to understand their message. But after forty-two months they were taken up into the heavens denoting that man’s spiritual understanding had been opened. It took forty-two months for natural Jerusalem to become desolate, revealing that spiritual (New Jerusalem) had taken her place—the Levitical order had ended and the Melchisedec order would forever reign in Yahweh Kingdom of Righteousness and Peace (Heb. 7:21).

11:13 And the same hour was there a great earthquake, and the tenth part of the city fell, and in the earthquake were slain of men seven thousand: and the rest (remnant) were affrighted, and gave glory to the God of heaven.

The verse above should have read: “In that hour there was a great earthquake, and the tenth of the city fell, and seven thousand “named” of men were slain in the earthquake. And the rest were awe-struck and gave glory to the God of heaven.” The word “named” was omitted in the KJV, but it is in the original writings. This is the time the Christians were persecuted.

Keep in mind that the city of Jerusalem was also called Sodom and Egypt, symbolizing the corruption and bondage that the people were in. When the two witnesses were seen through the eyes of spiritual understanding, there was a great spiritual earthquake, a great commotion, and a tenth of the corruption that had filtered into the religious system and the bondage that Israel held over the people fell (dissolved).

The word “named” means authority and character. The 7000 named of men that died symbolized the authority and doctrine that the people were held under. When the Levitical priesthood was over, so was the authority it held over the people, but only a few realized their way of worship had changed. The unbelievers continued to seek for a mediator between them and their God and they still do to this day.

Those that had Life gave their admiration to Yahweh and not to Israel. They were awe-struck and gave glory to the God of heaven and not to the god of the earth (Israel). Remember in verse four, the witnesses stood before the god of the earth, now the people are giving glory to the God of heaven. In order for the people to see the witnesses ascend into the heavenly realm, they had to have their spiritual understanding opened.

The disciples were told to go to the lost sheep of the house of Israel and only to the cities of Israel (Matt. 10:6-23). Their ministry was a tithe to the Melchisedec Priesthood. Their ministry caused a tenth part of the religious corruption and bondage to fall. That may not seem like much, but it was enough to change the whole religious system. Through the ministry of the disciples, the Kingdom message has spread across oceans and continents.

For the first 4000 years, only a small portion of the globe heard of the God of heaven. After the destruction of Jerusalem (less than 2000 years ago), the message of the Kingdom of Yahweh has spread to nations, tongues, and races of people—that tenth increased greatly.

11:14 The second woe is past; and, behold, the third woe comes quickly.
The messenger in Laodicea sounds his trumpet:

11:15 And the seventh messenger sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, “The (kingdoms of this) world (are) became the kingdom of our Lord, and of his Anointed; and he shall reign for ages (forever) and ages (ever).”

The word “world” is referring to its inhabitants. When a kingdom is set up, it is not land that is under submission to a king, but it is the people that dwell upon the land that the king governs. The inhabitants became the Kingdom of Yahweh and his Anointed.

When the seventh messenger sounded his message, it was evident that the King of Righteousness was on the throne. Here is a church that was spiritually dead and in need of manna from heaven to bring Life into it. The Anointed revealed his love to them by admonishing and educating them. He said, “As many as I love, I admonish (rebuke) and educate (chasten): be zealous therefore, and think differently (repent). I counsel you to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that you may be rich; and white raiment, that you may be clothed, and that the shame of your nakedness do not appear; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see.” He was telling them how they could find truth and live righteously. They had no need to call on a priest—the Anointed was the Way, the Truth, and the Life that they needed. He could bring them through their fiery trials and clothe them with righteousness. He would heal their spiritually blind eyes so they could understand truth.

Because the pastor of the church in Laodicea was straddling the fence, spiritually speaking, he was no value as a spiritual leader in the Kingdom of Yahweh. There was a passive attitude controlling the congregation. They had a “whatever you believe is fine just as long as you believe something” concept. Like many today, they figured if they didn’t make any waves or make any judgments concerning right and wrong there would be no friction in the church.

Right or wrong, it is better to stand for something than to stand for nothing. Our stand allows others to be able to make judgment, and it also helps us to know if we are right or wrong, because we reap what we sow.

The church in Laodicea needed to stand up for something in order to try the spirits to know whether they were of Yahweh or not. They needed to be rich in the Word in order to learn righteousness. All this was available to them if they opened their minds and hearts to the Holy Spirit. This would allow the Anointed to sup with them, to fill them with the Holy Spirit, so they might know the Way to find Truth, thereby, receive Life.

2 Cor. 3:10-16, For even that which was made glorious had no glory in this respect, by reason of the glory that excelled. For if that which is done away was glorious, much more that which remains is glorious. Seeing then that we have such hope, we use great plainness of speech: and not as Moses, which put a vail over his face, that the children of Israel could not steadfastly look to the end of that which is abolished: but their minds were blinded: for until this day remains the same vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which vail is done away in the Anointed. But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart. Nevertheless when it (the heart) shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away.

Because the church in Laodicea was lukewarm, they were not maturing spiritually. By Yahweh spewing them out of his mouth, the believers would realize they had lost communication with the FATHER and would seek to hear him. They would realize they were lost and in need of conversion. The FATHER hadn’t abandoned them; he was educating and correcting them by forcing them to see their lack. Those that had a genuine hunger for truth would feel the loss and see their unrighteousness and then they would seek to be clothed upon with righteousness. They would realize their spiritual eyes needed to be opened and ask for spiritual ointment for their eyes to be healed. Without correction, the church in Laodicea would not mature. The Holy Spirit knew what they needed to bring them into full maturity.

Jer. 2:19, Your own wickedness shall correct you, and your backslidings shall reprove you: know therefore and see that it is an evil thing and bitter, that you have forsaken Yahweh your God, and that my awe (fear) is not in you, says the Lord Yahweh of hosts.

To have “awe” is to have wonderment, admiration, respect, amazement, etc.

11:16 And the four and twenty elders, which sat before Yahweh on their seats, fell upon their faces, and worshipped Yahweh,
17 Saying, We give you thanks, O Lord Yahweh Almighty, which are, and was, (and are to come;) because you have taken (to thee) your great miraculous power, and have ruled (reigned).

We should have the same “awe” for Yahweh as he desires to have for us. When the believers realized they were walking in unrighteousness, they desired to have fellowship with the FATHER again, and they repented and sought after him.

11:18 And the Gentiles (nations) were provoked (angry), and your desire (wrath) is come, and the time of the dead, (that they should be) judged, and (that you should) give reward unto your servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that awed (fear) your name, small and great; and (should) destroy (them which) corruption (destroy) in the earth.

The word “provoked” means “motivated.” The church in Laodicea needed to be motivated either for or against righteousness. The dead church was judged. Those that became motivated in righteousness joined with the prophets, the saints, and with those who honored Yahweh’s character and authority, allowing the Spirit of Truth and Righteousness to destroy corruption in their minds and hearts (Yahweh’s temple). They crucified the old man of sin and were no longer dead in trespasses and sins; they were alive in righteousness. (See Eph. 2:1-5 and Rom. 6:6.)

I John 5:10-13, He that believes on the Son of Yahweh has the evidence (witness) in himself: he that believes not Yahweh has made him a liar; because he believes not the evidence (record) that Yahweh gave of his Son. This is the evidence (record), that Yahweh has given to us eternal Life, and this Life is in his Son. He that has the Son has Life; and he that has not the Son of Yahweh has not life. These things have I written unto you (that believe on the name of the Son of God;) that you may know that you have eternal Life, and that you may believe in (on) the character and authority (name) of the Son of Yahweh.

Yahweh will not destroy the physical earth; the meek are to inherit it (Mat. 5:5). Yahweh wants to destroy the earthy, the corruption, from out of his temples of flesh and blood, which are the earthen vessels that he plants his seed of Life into. (See Mark 4:3-20; Gal. 3:16; Col. 1:27.)

2 Cor. 4:6-7, Yahweh, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, has shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of Yahweh in the face of The Anointed SAVIOR. But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the Excellency of the power may be of Yahweh, and not of us. (Also see 1 Cor. 15:47.)
I John 1:9, If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Eph. 4:21-24, If so be that you have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in the SAVIOR: That you put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; And that you put on the new man, which after Yahweh is created in righteousness and true holiness.

See illustration #47 on next page.

19 And the temple of Yahweh was opened in heaven, and there was seen in his temple the ark of his covenant (testament): and there were lightnings, and voices, and thunderings, and an earthquake, and great hail.

In verse one, John was told to measure the temple. Mankind is the temple—Yahweh’s dwelling place. Now the temple is opened. Inside the temple (mankind) is the Ark of the Covenant, the place where Yahweh’s promise dwells. The Ark of the Covenant was in the Holiest of Holies in the tabernacle in the wilderness. It was the place where Yahweh communicated with the high priest. Inside the Ark of the Covenant were the Ten Commandments, the manna, and Aaron’s rod that budded. Now we see, inside the intellect of mankind is the place of Yahweh’s promise to bring man into his image, the knowledge of his laws, spiritual food, and power to overcome the adversary.

The Ark of the Covenant symbolizes Yahweh’s fellowship with mankind. The items inside the Ark of the Covenant symbolize the believers’ obedience to the principles of righteousness, their communion with him, and their joining the Kingdom of Priests in the Melchisedec order. This ark now dwells in no other place but in mankind, the temples of Yahweh.

1 Cor. 3:16, Know you not that you are the temple of Yahweh, and that the Spirit of Yahweh dwells in you?
1 Cor. 6:19-20, Know you not that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit which is in you, which you have of Yahweh, and you are not your own? For you are bought with a price: therefore glorify Yahweh in your body, and in your spirit, which are Yahweh’s.
2 Cor 6:16, What agreement has the temple of Yahweh with idols? for you are the temple of the living God; as Yahweh has said, “I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.” (See Jer. 31:33-34.)

Once again there are lightnings, voices, thunderings, and great hail, these came from the throne of Yahweh in chapter four. But this time they are coming from the temple of Yahweh. The lightnings symbolized the Spirit of Revelation going forth from the believers. The voices symbolized the believers ministering the Word of Yahweh. The thunderings symbolized the judgment that came upon those who allowed the Word to judge them.

Not only were there lightnings, voices and thunderings, there was also an earthquake, which was symbolic to spiritual commotion created by the Holy Spirit of Truth. When the dwelling place of Yahweh changed from a temple made by man to temples of flesh and blood, it caused a spiritual earthquake in the minds of the people. This change of priesthood brought great controversy across the land. The unbelieving Israelites wanted to keep the Levitical priesthood in operation, but the believing Israelites accepted the change and were persecuted because of their stand.

The great hail symbolizes the word of Yahweh given with a carnal interpretation. Hail is formed when the frozen rain is gathered around a dust particle. The rain symbolizes the Word coming forth from Yahweh, while the dust is the carnal understanding of man. Hail causes great damage as it falls from the sky just as the carnal interpretation of the Word. The Holy Spirit had to guide those who were lost in ignorance and show them the way to truth. But their ignorance was not dissolved the moment the Holy Spirit came upon them. The Holy Spirit was their Guide and Teacher to all truth. Coming into maturity was a process that would take years of learning, yielding, and crucifying the old man if sin. Throughout the years since the Holy Spirit came on the day of Pentecost, there have been many different views to the meaning of the scriptures, but mankind continues to grow and mature in the Holy Spirit.

Remember in chapter 10:7, the angel said to John, “In the days of the voice of the seventh messenger, when he shall begin to sound, the mystery of Yahweh should be finished, as he has declared to his servants the prophets.” Now the seventh messenger has sounded his trumpet; therefore, the mystery of Yahweh was revealed, Yahweh was making his abode in his people no matter what nationality, color, or gender they were.

Col. 1:26-27, The mystery which has been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints: to whom Yahweh would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the nations (Gentiles); which is the Anointed in you, the hope of glory.
