Revelation Chapter 10
1 And I saw another Mighty Angel come down from heaven, clothed with a cloud: and a rainbow was upon his head, and his face was as it were the sun, and his feet as pillars of fire:
This Mighty Angel represents the SAVIOR as he came “in” his people, which are represented as clouds.
Rev. 1:7, Behold, the SAVIOR comes with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.
Matt. 26:64 …nevertheless I (Christ) say unto you, Hereafter shall you see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven. (Notice, he is sitting and coming at the same time.)
When Yahweh revealed himself to the Israelites he came in the form of a cloud.
Ex. 13:21-22, Yahweh went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night: he took not away the pillar of the cloud by day, nor the pillar of fire by night, from before the people.
Ex. 19:9, And Yahweh said unto Moses, Lo, I come unto you in a thick cloud, that the people may hear when I speak with you, and believe you forever. (Also see Lev. 16:2; 1 Kings 8:10-11.)
In Mark 9:3-8, when the SAVIOR was transfigured on the mount of transfiguration, there was a cloud that overshadowed him; Yahweh spoke out of the cloud, saying, “This is my beloved Son, hear him,” signifying that the Anointed SAVIOR was his voice in the earth.
Once again we see the face of the Anointing as bright as the sun, which was also described in Revelation 1:16. “His countenance was as the sun shines in his strength.”
The Angel’s feet were pillars of fire. This fire represents the cleansing power of the Holy Spirit. On the day of Pentecost, those in the upper room had cloven tongues like fire upon their heads (Acts 2:1-4). The believers were baptized in the Holy Spirit and with fire; they became the ministers of Yahweh bringing truth to all nations. Yahweh is a consuming fire (Heb. 12:29); therefore, his son (the SAVIOR) was also a consuming fire.
Heb. 1:7, Of the angels he said, Who makes his angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire.
Luke 3:16-17, John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I comes, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you with the Holy Spirit (Ghost) and with fire: whose fan is in his hand, and he will thoroughly purge his floor, and will gather the wheat into his garner; but the chaff he will burn with fire unquenchable.
10:2 And he (the Mighty Angel) had in his hand a little scroll (book) open: and he set his right foot upon the sea, and his left foot on the earth,
The Mighty Angel clothed in the presence of the Father with the covenant upon his head, represented by the rainbow, and his face radiating truth held in his right hand a small scroll. This scroll represented the portion of the Word to be revealed to John. He was to send it to the churches and the churches would grow thereby and send it out into the whole world.
The land and the sea were under the Angel’s feet. His feet being pillars of fire signified judgment. The people were going to learn righteousness. This Mighty Angel was the Anointed SAVIOR in all his glory as he brought the Father’s judgments “in” the earth. Without the Spirit filled Church shining the light of truth there could be no judgments in the earth. These Christians were going to be the closest resemblance of the Father manifested in the earth because the SAVIOR was coming “in” them.
Isa. 26:9 ….When Yahweh’s judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness.
Isa. 4:4-6, When the Lord shall have washed away the filth of the daughters of Zion, and shall have purged the blood of Jerusalem from the midst thereof by the spirit of judgment, and by the spirit of burning. And Yahweh will create upon every dwelling place of mount Zion, and upon her assemblies, a cloud and smoke by day, and the shining of a flaming fire by night: for upon all the glory shall be a defense (a protection). And there shall be a tabernacle for a shadow in the daytime from the heat, and for a place of refuge, and for a refuge (covert) from storm and from rain.
Those in darkness still need a pillar of fire to burn away all that is not of the Heavenly Father (1 Cor. 3:9-16). The Holy Spirit that dwells within mankind brings judgment upon sin.
The Anointed SAVIOR did not come alone this time; he came with temples made of flesh and blood. Christians are the temples of the Holy Spirit (1 Cor. 3:16). The Kingdom of Yahweh is righteous living in peace and joy as the Holy Spirit is manifested through mankind (Rom. 14:17).
Acts 7:48-49, Howbeit the most High dwells not in temples made with hands; as said the prophet, Heaven is my throne, and earth is my footstool: what house will you build me? saith Yahweh: or what is the place of my rest?
John 14:18-20, I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. Yet a little while, and the world sees me no more; but you see me: because I live, you shall live also. At that day (when he came) you shall know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you.
John 6:56, He that eats my flesh, and drinks my blood, dwells in me, and I in him.
John 17:21, That they all (believers) may be one; as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that you have sent me.
The Angel said, to he Philadelphian messenger, “He that overcomes will I make a pillar in the temple of my God,” Rev. 3:12.
Eph. 2:19-22, Now therefore you are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints, and of the household of Yahweh; and are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, the Anointed SAVIOR himself being the chief corner stone; In whom all the building fitly framed together grows unto an holy temple in the Lord: In whom you also are built together for an habitation of Yahweh through the Spirit.
10:3 And (the Mighty Angel) cried with a loud voice, as (when) a lion roars: and when he had cried, seven thunders uttered their voices.
4 And when the seven thunders had uttered (their voices), I was about to write: and I heard a voice from heaven saying (unto me), Seal up the words (those things which) the seven thunders uttered, and write them not.
There is no information given as to what the seven thunders are. Apparently the people were not spiritually prepared to hear the spirit of the messages of the seven thunders without it being given in person.
5 And the angel which I saw stand upon the sea and upon the earth lifted up his right hand to heaven,
6 And swore by him that lives forever and ever, who created heaven, and the things that therein are, and the earth, and the things that therein are, and the sea, and the things which are therein, that there should be a delay (time) no longer:
Oaths were made by one lifting up his right hand to heaven. The Mighty Angel made a promise that there would not be any more delay in revealing the mystery of Yahweh and affirmed it with an oath. The raising of his right hand symbolized he had the power to accomplish that which he swore he would do.
Ps. 98:1, O sing unto Yahweh a new song; for he has done marvelous things: his right hand, and his holy arm, has gotten him the victory.
10:7 But in the days of the voice of the seventh messenger, when he shall begin to sound, the mystery of Yahweh should be completed (finished), as he has declared to his servants the prophets.
Paul understood that this mystery was the “Anointing in the believers.” The Anointing made it possible for all nations to be fellow heirs to the Kingdom of Righteousness.
Col. 1:25-27, Whereof I am made a minister, according to the dispensation of Yahweh which is given to me for you, to fulfill the word of Yahweh; even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints: to whom Yahweh would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.
The Mighty Angel putting his foot on the land and on the sea symbolized the whole earth in subjection to the Holy Spirit. The SAVIOR first came to the house of Israel (Matt. 15:24), now it is for “whosoever will” to come to the Father through the Holy Spirit (Rev. 22:17).
Isa. 60:1-5, Arise, shine; for your light is come, and the glory of Yahweh is risen upon you. For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but Yahweh shall arise upon you, and his glory shall be seen upon you. And the Gentiles shall come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your rising. Lift up your eyes round about, and see: all they gather themselves together, they come to you: your sons shall come from far, and your daughters shall be nursed at your side. Then you shall see, and flow together, and your heart shall fear, and be enlarged; because the abundance of the sea shall be converted unto you, the forces of the Gentiles shall come unto you. (Also see Psalm 98:1-4; Isa. 22:24; 49:1-22 Eph. 3:3-6.)
Before John left the island, the mystery of the seventh message was revealed. Yahweh revealed the mystery to John after the seventh messenger sounded his trumpet.
10:8 And the voice which I heard from heaven spoke unto me again, and said, “Go and take the little scroll (book) which is open in the hand of the angel which stands upon the sea and upon the earth.”
9 And I went unto the angel, and said unto him, Give me the little scroll (book). And he said unto me, Take it, and eat it up; and it shall make your belly bitter, but it shall be in your mouth sweet as honey. (Belly is used figuratively for the heart.)
10 And I took the little scroll (book) out of the angel’s hand, and ate it up; and it was in my mouth sweet as honey: and as soon as I had eaten it, my belly was bitter.
11 And he said unto me, You must prophesy again before many peoples, and nations (meaning Gentiles), and languages (tongues), and kings.
The knowledge of wisdom was said to be sweet as honey. The manna that Yahweh gave to the house of Israel tasted like honey (Ex. 16:31). The scroll was the Word of Yahweh; it was spiritual manna from heaven.
Prov. 24:13-14, My son, eat your honey, because it is good; and the honeycomb, which is sweet to your taste: so shall the knowledge of wisdom be unto your soul: when you have found it, then there shall be a reward, and your expectation shall not be cut off.
As John ate the scroll, the Word of Yahweh was sweet as honey in his mouth, but it was bitter in his belly. John was on the isle of Patmos seeking to hear from Yahweh (Rev. 1:9-10). What he received was joyous in his spirit, but it was offensive to his fleshly nature.
John was a minister before he came to the isle of Patmos and he was going to minister again, but this time he was taking the hidden manna from heaven with him to give to his listeners. He loved the people, and he desired to bring them out of darkness and into the glorious Light of Truth. Not only was John to take this message to the seven churches in Asia, but he was to take it to nations, tongues, kings, and people.
Rev. 3:22, He that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit said unto the churches.
John did not have full understanding of the mystery until after the Laodicean (7th) messenger sounded his trumpet. This seventh trumpet (message) revealed the mystery.
Those who accepted John’s message as the Word of Yahweh rejoiced with him, but those who didn’t persecuted him and caused him great sorrow.
