Revelation Chapter Fourteen

14:1 And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the Mount Zion, and with him an hundred forty and four thousand, having his Father’s name written in their foreheads.

This Lamb is symbolic of the SAVIOR (John 1:36). Since the lamb is a symbol, the 144,000 and Mount Zion are also symbols. There would be confusion if one was a symbol while the other was not. Keep in mind that John was seeing a vision and each image he saw was a descriptive message that could be understood by the characteristics of each image.

In the thirteenth chapter of Revelation, the SAVIOR, as the Lamb, was crucified and now John is seeing him standing on Mount Zion with 144,000 with the FATHER’s name written in their foreheads, that is, his characteristics in their minds.

The natural city of Zion was located on a prominent hill of Jerusalem; it was the highest hill in Jerusalem. It was called the city of David, and was the original site of the tabernacle pitched by David for receiving the Ark of the Covenant (2 Chron. 5:2-7). It was called the holy hill (Ps. 6:2). In Hebrews 12:22-28, it is referred to as the Church or City of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem. Mount Zion is symbolic of the Kingdom of Yahweh in the earth.

Heb. 12:22-23, You are come unto mount Zion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of messengers (angels), to the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to Yahweh, the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect.
Ps 2:6-7, Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion. I will declare the decree: Yahweh has said unto me, “You are my Son; this day have I begotten you.”
Isa 8:16-18 Bind up the testimony, seal the law among my disciples. And I will wait upon Yahweh, that hides his face from the house of Jacob, and I will look for him. Behold, I and the children whom Yahweh has given me are for signs and for wonders in Israel from the LORD of hosts, which dwells in mount Zion.
Isa 40:9-11, O Zion, that brings good tidings, get thee up into the high mountain; O Jerusalem, that brings good tidings, lift up your voice with strength; lift it up, be not afraid; say unto the cities of Judah, Behold your God! Behold, the Lord Yahweh will come with strong hand, and his arm shall rule for him: behold, his reward is with him, and his work before him. He shall feed his flock like a shepherd: he shall gather the lambs with his arm, and carry them in his bosom, and shall gently lead those that are with young.
Isa 60:14, The sons also of them that afflicted you shall come bending unto you; and all they that despised you shall bow themselves down at the soles of your feet; and they shall call you, “The city of the Yahweh, The Zion of the Holy One of Israel”.

The 144,000 had their Father’s name written in their foreheads. This was also the same location that the mark of the beast was to be on those who did not accept the SAVIOR. The word “foreheads” means the opposite of countenance; it is what is on the inside, in the mind. In the seventh chapter of Revelation, we read that the 144,000 who was sealed in their foreheads were the servants of Yahweh and were from the twelve tribes of Israel.

The word “seal” means to stamp with a signet or a private mark for security or preservation. It is from a word that means to “impress” as a mark, which is the same as a signet. I was fascinated by the meaning of the word “impress.” According to the Webster’s Ninth New Collegiate Dictionary, it means “to apply with pressure so as to imprint; to produce as a mark by pressure; to produce a vivid impression of; to affect especially forcibly or deeply; influence.” Another meaning that I especially like is “to apply as voltage to a circuit from an outside source to produce an impression” just as John heard in his vision, saying, “out of the throne proceeded lightnings” (Rev 4:5). The Holy Spirit was definitely the seal used to imprint or produce an impression of the Spirit of Righteousness in the minds of the believers.

The 144,000 was the beginning of a holy priesthood, a Kingdom of Priests, Yahweh’s spiritual house, that is, they were manifestations of Yahweh’s Kingdom in the earth.

1 Pet. 2:4-6, 9, To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of Yahweh, and precious, you also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to Yahweh by the Anointed SAVIOR. Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Zion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believes on him shall not be confounded. You are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that you should show forth the praises of him who has called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. (See also Ex. 19:5-6.)
Eph. 2:18-22, For through him (the SAVIOR) we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father. Now therefore you are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints, and of the household of Yahweh; and are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, the Anointed SAVIOR himself being the chief corner stone; in whom all the building fitly framed together grows unto an holy temple in the Lord: in whom you also are built together for an habitation of Yahweh through the Spirit.

14:2 And I heard a voice from heaven, as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of a great thunder: and I heard the voice of harpers harping with their harps:
3 And they sung as it were a new song before the throne, and before the four Living Creatures (beasts), and the elders: and no man could learn that song but the hundred and forty and four thousand, which were redeemed from the earth.

The voice of many waters came forth from the believers; it was Yahweh’s voice coming out of nations, tongues, and peoples.

The voices of great thunder symbolized Yahweh’s judgment upon sin as the believers became walking epistles of the Word of Yahweh. Yahweh no longer passed over sin; he brought judgment upon it and made a way for deliverance from it.

Joel 2:32, It shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of Yahweh shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as Yahweh has said, and in the remnant whom Yahweh shall call.
John 7:38, He that believes on me, as the scripture has said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.
Eph. 5:25-32, Christ (the Anointing) also loved the church, and gave himself for it; That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word (being washed by the Spirit of the Word), That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.
I John 1:9, If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (The word “cleanse” means to remove to make free from sin.)
1 Tim. 4:16, Take heed unto yourself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this you will both save yourself, and them that hear you.
John 15:3, You are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.

Harps were used in Israel’s worship unto Yahweh. The harps symbolized the high praises unto Yahweh by those who were redeemed.

Ps. 33:1-5, Rejoice in Yahweh, O you righteous: for praise is comely for the upright. Praise Yahweh with harps: sing unto him with the psaltery and an instrument of ten strings. Sing unto him a new song; play skillfully with a loud noise. For the word of Yahweh is right; and all his works are done in truth. He loves righteousness and judgment: the earth is full of the goodness of Yahweh.
Ps. 43:3-4, O send out your light and your truth: let them lead me; let them bring me unto your holy hill, and to your tabernacles (mortal dwelling places). Then will I go unto the altar of God, unto God my exceeding joy: yea, upon the harp will I praise you, O Yahweh my God.
Ps. 71:22-23, I will also praise you with the psaltery, even your truth, O my God: unto you will I sing with the harp, O thou Holy One of Israel. My lips shall greatly rejoice when I sing unto you; and my soul, which you have redeemed.
Ps. 147:7, Sing unto Yahweh with thanksgiving; sing praise upon the harp unto our God.

In the Old Testament, singing was their way of expressing gratitude and praise for deliverance or for a victory. The Israelites sang the song of Moses when they were delivered from Pharaoh and his host (Ex. 15:1-15); Israel sang at the well of Beer in gratitude for water (Num. 21:17-35); Deborah was told to wake up and sing a song of victory (Judg. 5:12); David and all Israel sang when they brought the Ark home from of the house of Abinadab (1 Chron. 13:7-8). Hannah sang when she weaned Samuel (1 Sam. 2). The 144,000 were singing because they were redeemed from the earth—delivered from the bondage of carnality.

The 144,000 sang their new song before the throne, before the four Living Creatures, and before the twenty-four elders. Standing “before” each of these showed that they were in submission to all that each one represented. The two witnesses that represented the ceremonial laws and prophets, spoken of in Revelation chapter eleven, stood before the god of the earth. They were subject to the Israelite nation. The 144,000 coming before the throne makes us know that there was a king in whom they were in subjection to his wishes and commands. The 144,000 submitted to the ministry of salvation that proceeded from the throne, from the four Living Creatures, and from the twenty-four elders. They were in submission to Yahweh’s Spirit (represented by the throne); they were in submission to the SAVIOR’s doctrine (represented by the four Living Creatures); and they were in submission the administration of Yahweh’s government (represented by the 24 elders).

The 144,000 that were redeemed from the earth were the firstfruits of the new order, the Melchisedec order, which was the Church. No one else but the 144,000 can be the beginning of the new order. No others can be the first to enter the new order, all the rest will come in second. The old order was the Levitical order and the new order is the Holy Priesthood after the order of Melchisedec. No one else can claim their song, because the 144,000 were the only ones that lived the lyrics of that song. The ones that claimed that position were the twelve apostles that were the faithful followers of the SAVIOR.

There were eleven original apostles and Matthias who replaced Judas. These twelve were the first to bring the Kingdom message to the rest of the world. They were the beginning of the Church age; therefore, the founders of the Church. In Revelation 21:14 it tells us that the Holy City, New Jerusalem, had twelve foundations and in them were the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.

Acts 1:21-26, Wherefore of these men which have companied with us all the time that the Lord Yasha (Jesus) went in and out among us, beginning from the baptism of John, unto that same day that he was taken up from us, must one be ordained to be a witness with us of his resurrection. And they appointed two, Joseph called Barsabas, who was surnamed Justus, and Matthias. And they prayed, and said, You, Lord, which know the hearts of all men, show whether of these two you have chosen, that he may take part of this ministry and apostleship, from which Judas by transgression fell, that he might go to his own place. And they gave forth their lots; and the lot fell upon Matthias; and he was numbered with the eleven apostles.

The 144,000 represent the Kingdom of Heaven, the Kingdom of Righteousness, those whose foundation is Yahweh. Just as a corporation is not the people but is administered by the people, so is the Kingdom of Yahweh a government that is administered by his sons. The Spirit of Yahweh was in them manifesting himself through them. The disciples were the first members into the Kingdom of Righteousness, they were later joined by 108 believers in the upper room, bringing the total to 120 (John 20:19-23; Acts 1:8). The Holy Spirit was and is the head of the Kingdom of Yahweh. The Kingdom of Yahweh is the royal priesthood, the army of Yahweh that is to go forth into all the earth.

Mark 16:15-18, The SAVIOR said unto them (the disciples), Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believes and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believes not shall be condemned (damned). And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; they shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. (Also see 1 Pet. 2:9.)

Those who have joined the Kingdom of Righteousness down through the ages cannot change the Word of Truth or the principles for which it stands. Yahweh does not change nor does his principles. The foundation will forever remain the same; he is an unshakeable and sure foundation.

14:4 These are they which were not defiled with women; for they are virgins. These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goes. These were redeemed from among men, being the firstfruits unto Yahweh and to the Lamb.
5 And in their mouth was found no guile: for they are without fault before the throne of Yahweh.

If the number 144,000 meant literally that only 144,000 male virgins could be with the Lamb, it would eliminate all married men and all females; therefore, making the Lamb and Yahweh respecter of persons. In the literal sense, it also implies that marriage is not sanctioned by Yahweh. Yahweh instituted marriage and the Savior supported it. Why would Yahweh tell Adam to be fruitful and to multiply if it corrupted him? Without reproduction, the human race would have become extinct.

Gen. 2:18, The LORD God said, “It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.”
Gen. 2:24, Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.
Matt. 19:4-6, The SAVIOR answered and said unto the multitude, Have you not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female, and said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh? Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore Yahweh has joined together, let not man put asunder.

The nation of Israel was described as a virgin because the Israelites were made pure and holy through their obedience to the sacrificial laws (Isa. 37:22; Jer. 31:4). Paul speaks of the entire body of believers as a “chaste virgin” (2 Cor. 11:2). The Kingdom of Heaven is likened unto ten virgins (Matt. 25:1-13). The Melchisedec order is a Kingdom of Righteousness and Peace. It is not defiled with carnality; it is a virgin.

The 144,000 represented those in the Kingdom of Yahweh. They were called virgins because they were not polluted with the doctrines of men. Even though many doctrines have developed from out of the SAVIOR’s teaching, the Word of Truth, being founded by facts, has not changed; it remains untainted by man’s carnal concepts.

The apostles were the first leaders and teachers of the Kingdom of Righteousness; they were constant companions of the SAVIOR throughout his ministry and were witnesses of the principles of the Kingdom. They were the ones that walked with the Savior in his Lamb state. They were partakers of his ministry before he was slain. After the Lamb was slain, the apostles continued in the ministry of the Lamb even to the point of being killed themselves. They fulfilled the ministry of the Lamb and did even greater things because the Lamb was that Holy Spirit within them (John 14:11-12).

They were “Yahweh’s” and the “Lamb’s” firstfruits of the Church; they were the beginning of the Royal Priesthood, the Kingdom age, the Church age. No one else could claim that position not even Paul.

John 17:6-7, 12, 17-23, I have manifested your name unto the men (disciples) which you gave me out of the world: yours they were, and you gave them me; and they have kept your word. Now they have known that all things whatsoever you have given me are of you… While I was with them in the world, I kept them in your name: those that you gave me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled… Sanctify them through your truth: your word is truth. As you have sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them (disciples) into the world. And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth. Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through the disciples’ word; that they all may be one; as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they (everyone) also may be one in us: that the world may believe that you have sent me. And the glory which you gave me I have given them (everyone); that they may be one, even as we are one: I in them, and you in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that you have sent me, and have loved them (everyone), as you have loved me.

The foundation of the Church, the House of Yahweh, was laid in the beginning of the Church age and there is no more “beginning.” The twelve apostles all came from the natural house of Israel, but when they were born from above, that is, when they received the Holy Spirit within, they became the firstfruits of the spiritual house of Israel, the beginning of the royal priesthood—the Melchisedec order—was established through them. The SAVIOR brought in (birthed) the apostles and the 108 who joined the spiritual priesthood. Through their ministry, many sons have been birthed into Yahweh’s spiritual house that has no end.

Dan. 7:28, The kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of the kingdom under the whole heaven, shall be given to the people of the saints of the most High, whose kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey him.
Rev. 1:5-6, The Anointed SAVIOR, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood, and has made us kingdom (kings and) priests unto Yahweh, also (and) the SAVIOR’s Father; to him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.

The corporation of the Kingdom of Yahweh was and still is a virgin; it has not been defiled by carnality. Its founder is Yahweh. The SAVIOR brought it to light; it was set up and coordinated by the Holy Spirit. The 120 who joined the administration of the Kingdom of Yahweh became members of the royal priesthood, the household of Yahweh (1 Peter 2:1-9). They were the first to be called out of darkness into Yahweh’s marvelous light of Truth given by the Holy Spirit.

2 Tim. 1:9-10, Who has saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ the SAVIOR before the world began, but is now made manifest by the appearing of our Savior Yasha Christ (the Anointing), who has abolished death, and has brought life and immortality to light through the gospel.
2 Cor. 4:5-7, For we preach not ourselves, but the Anointed SAVIOR, the Lord; and ourselves your servants for the SAVIOR’s sake. For Yahweh, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, has shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of Yahweh in the face of the SAVIOR the Anointed. But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of Yahweh, and not of us.

14:6 And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people,
7 Saying with a loud voice, “Revere (Fear) Yahweh, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.”

Notice this angel began preaching to everyone that dwelt on the earth. This angel was in heaven, but the everlasting gospel, the “Good News,” which he had was for those on the earth. This Good News would make their hearts merry; it would create feelings of joy and gladness. The Good News was that the Kingdom of Yahweh, the kingdom of righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit, had come to mankind (Rom. 14:17).

This angel represents the Spirit of Truth that was promised to the believers.

John 14:16-18, And I (the SAVIOR) will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it sees him not, neither knows him: but you know him; for he dwells with you, and shall be in you. I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.
John 14:26-27, The Comforter, which is the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world gives, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. (See also John 16:7-14)

The angel explained why it was necessary for the people to reverence and give glory to Yahweh, saying that judgment had come upon sin. It was time to be at awe with the Anointed Word because Yahweh had given the believers power over sin and it was being manifested through them. Before, there was only judgment upon man’s “actions;” the “condition of the heart” was not dealt with. But the time had come for the feelings, thoughts and actions of the inner man to be judged. Mankind would no longer remain separated from his Creator (Isa. 59:2); he would now come face to face with him. His heart, mind, and actions could become one with the Father even as the Son was one with the Father. The ministry of the apostles was set into motion. Remember the prayer that the SAVIOR prayed for his apostles.

John 17:17-23, Sanctify them (apostles) through your truth: your word is truth. As you have sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world. And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth. Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their (apostles’) word; that they all may be one; as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they (those that believe) also may be one in us: that the world may believe that you have sent me. And the glory which you gave me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: I in them, and you in me, that they may be made perfect (complete) in one; and that the world may know that you have sent me, and have loved them (the believer), as you have loved me.

Notice that through the apostles’ ministry, the world would believe that the SAVIOR was sent by Yahweh and they would become believers.

Because Yahweh is Spirit, it is impossible to touch him physically or to see him with the natural eyes. Man’s relationship with Yahweh is threefold. It requires man to 1listen—to reverence; to 2speak—to give glory; and to 3act—to worship. A relationship with Yahweh requires the heart, the mind, and the body to come into agreement with Yahweh’s principles. If the believers loved him, they would embrace his emotions, his actions, and his words. If they loved Yahweh, they would automatically reverence him.

True reverence is a condition of the heart. It is a feeling of amazement mixed with admiration and respect. It gives no place for fear and terror, just complete submission of one’s mind, body, and soul into his loving care. The believers could not have reverenced their Heavenly Father if they had been afraid of him nor would they have given their hearts to him. They could not reverence the FATHER unless they loved him and they could not love him if they did not know him, and the only way they could know him was to know his Spirit.

The only way the believers could give glory to Yahweh was to wholeheartedly believe in his principles of righteousness and truth, for from the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. When their hearts and minds joined with Yahweh’s principle of love, they automatically proclaimed the word of truth and righteousness. They sang praises unto Yahweh. They glorified the Father as his love radiated from them.

Heb 2:11-13, For both he that sanctifies and they who are sanctified are all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren, “Saying, I will declare your name unto my brethren, in the midst of the congregation (church) will I sing praise unto you.” And again, “I will put my trust in him.” And again, “Behold I and the children which Yahweh has given me.”

The time had come that mankind could no longer worship Yahweh with tangible objects such as the sacrificial altar and the burning of incense. Yahweh desired to be one with his temples of flesh; therefore, they had to worship Yahweh in spirit and in truth. They had to come up higher into the realm of righteousness.

John 4:23-24, The hour comes, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeks such to worship him. Yahweh is (a) Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
John 3:3-7, The SAVIOR answered and said unto him (Nicodemus), “Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a man be born again, he cannot understand (see) the Kingdom of Yahweh.” …I say unto you, “Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the Kingdom of Yahweh. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto you, “You must be born again.”

The statement “worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters” wasn’t spoken lightly. Each of these four elements has a spiritual significance. Heaven is Yahweh’s throne (Acts 7:48-49); it is the realm of truth, love and righteousness. The earth is Yahweh’s footstool; it is the realm of the natural man; his feelings and his thoughts. Mankind’s heart is Yahweh’s footstool. The FATHER was bringing the hearts of mankind under subjection to his principles.

Acts 2:32-36, This Yasha (the SAVIOR) has Yahweh raised up, whereof we all are witnesses. Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, he has shed forth this, which you now see and hear. For David is not ascended into the heavens: but he said himself, “Yahweh said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, until I make your foes your footstool. Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that Yahweh has made that same SAVIOR, whom you have crucified, both Lord and Anointed.
Ps. 110:1-4, Yahweh said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make your enemies your footstool. Yahweh shall send the rod of your strength out of Zion: rule thou in the midst of your enemies. Your people shall be willing in the day of your power, in the beauties of holiness from the womb of the morning: you have the dew of your youth. Yahweh has sworn, and will not repent, “You are a priest for ever after the order of Melchizedek.”

The seas symbolized the expression of mankind. From the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.

Isa. 24:14-15, They shall lift up their voice, they shall sing for the majesty of Yahweh, they shall cry aloud from the sea. Wherefore glorify you Yahweh in the fires, even the name of Yahweh the God of Israel in the isles of the sea.
When the Holy Spirit filled those in the upper room, they began to speak and act under the influence of the Holy Spirit.
Acts 2:2-4 Suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them (the 120) cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

The fountains of waters represented the believers as the Holy Spirit came forth from them. Fountain is interchanged with the word “well.” The fountains of waters symbolize the Holy Spirit springing up within those who received the Holy Spirit.

John 4:14, Whosoever drinks of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.
John 7:37-39, In the last day, that great day of the feast, the SAVIOR stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. He that believes on me, as the scripture has said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. (But this spoke he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Spirit was not yet given; because that the SAVIOR was not yet glorified.)

14:8 And there followed another angel, saying, Babylon (confusion) is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.

Babylon was the capital of the Babylonian empire before it was destroyed around 500 B.C. The name Babylon is the Greek form of the Hebrew name Babel. It first appeared in Genesis 11:1-11 when the tower of Babel, meaning confusion, was first built. Babel became a great city, controlling more of the world than any other empire. Long before the time of John’s vision, Babylon had already lost its power over the people.

Notice that Babylon is called “that great city,” which is the same “great city” where our Lord was crucified and is also called Sodom (corruption) and Egypt (bondage) (Rev. 11:8). Babylon became a symbol for confusion.

Babylon represented a place of weeping, a place of being lost and confused.
Ps 137:1-4, By the rivers of Babylon, there we sat down, yea, we wept, when we remembered Zion. We hanged our harps upon the willows in the midst thereof. For there they that carried us away captive required of us a song; and they that wasted us required of us mirth, saying, Sing us one of the songs of Zion. How shall we sing Yahweh’s song in a strange land? (“A strange land” speaks of being lost and confused.)

Notice in the above scriptures those held captive in Babylon could not sing the songs of Zion. They hung their harps up because they were in a place of captivity. They were lost in a strange land without a guide to tell them where to go. The SAVIOR came to save those that were lost (Matt 18:11). In John vision, Babylon had fallen; now they could sing songs of Zion and play their harps because they were no longer held captive by their carnal minds, and they could sing praises unto Yahweh in Zion.

When the Holy Spirit came it was a time of rejoicing and playing the harps and singing because the Guide, Comforter, and Teacher had come to them. Truth had come to set the minds free from the lies which kept them bound in confusion and deception.

John 8:31-32, Then said the SAVIOR to those Jews which believed on him, “If you continue in my word, then are you my disciples indeed (truthfully); and you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

The believers did not continue in their sinful condition. They rejoiced because they were going to be freed from sin. It was a time to be free from greed and from the lust that divided their homes and destroyed nations. It was a time to be free from the desires within that brought havoc in their lives. In the past, their sacrifices had given them forgiveness, but now they needed more; they needed delivered from their lower nature—from that which caused them to fall into bondage in the first place: the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eye, and the pride of life. They were now experiencing the new birth, therefore, making it possible for them to come into the image of their Heavenly Father, that is, to have his name, his authority and character in their minds.

Notice that Babylon had the power to “make all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.” Here, the word “drink” means “to furnish drink, to irrigate.” Just as Natural wine is intoxicating so also was the ways of Babylon as the nations became impaired mentally and physically after drinking excessively of their idolatry. The word “fornication” means harlotry, which is idolatry. Idolatry is defined as the worship of any cult image, idea, or object, as opposed to the worship of Yahweh. Babylon’s wine was wrath. The word “wrath” in this verse means “passion.” Babylon’s passion was intense; their overpowering emotion toward their idols and not for the Spirit of Righteousness was toxic to the unconverted.

If John was to believe that the literal city of Babylon made “all nations” commit idolatry, it would be difficult to correlate it with the people of that day because Babylon no longer existed. The city of Babylon became the symbol of their confusion. In mankind’s confusion they worshipped and served gods that were likened unto themselves or animals.

Rom. 1:20-23, The invisible things of him (Yahweh) from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: because that, when they knew Yahweh, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, and changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.

The messengers of Pergamos and Thyatira allowed the doctrines of the Nicolaitans, Balaam and Jezebel to be taught in their churches. Their leniency caused many to stumble and to commit spiritual fornication, which is idolatry (Rev. 2:14 & 20).

Before the day of Pentecost, the whole world was in a state of confusion concerning their Creator—they did not understand his character.

John 1:4-5, In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shined in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
John 1:10-11, He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. He came unto his own, and his own received him not.

14:9 And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand,
10 The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of Yahweh, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy messengers (angels), and in the presence of the Lamb:

Here, the third angel proclaims Yahweh’s disapproval of sin.

The word “mark” means a scratch or etching, that is, a stamp as a badge of servitude. The word “forehead” in the Greek means “the opposite of countenance.” The countenance is the face, or the expression on it. The opposite of the countenance is what is on the inside—in the mind.

Remember it was the spirit of antichrist (lamb “beast”) who caused the mark of servitude to be placed in the minds of the world. The spirit of antichrist was any spirit that was against Christ. Anti means expressing or holding an opposing view in political or moral principles; therefore, “antichrist” is expressing or holding an opposing view of Christ’s principles of righteousness. The people that had the mark of the beast in their foreheads or in their right hands had an unrighteous spirit, and they walked in the power and influence of the beastly nature (1 John 2:18-22).

There were five congregations out of the seven churches of Asia that yielded to their beastly nature.
1. Ephesus lost its first love.
2. Pergamos committed spiritual fornication.
3. Thyatira also committed spiritual fornication.
4. Sardis was spiritually dead.
5. Laodicea straddled the spiritual fence.

As they allowed their lustful desires to control their lives, they became worshippers of the beast. Their lustful desires were the mark of the beast, their actions revealed their badge of servitude to the beastly nature.

Rom. 6:12-19, Do not let sin control the way you live; do not give in to its lustful desires. Do not let any part of your body become a tool of wickedness, to be used for sinning. Instead, give yourselves completely to God since you have been given new life. And use your whole body as a tool to do what is right for the glory of God. Sin is no longer your master, for you are no longer subject to the law, which enslaves you to sin. Instead, you are free by God’s grace. So since God’s grace has set us free from the law, does this mean we can go on sinning? Of course not! Don’t you realize that whatever you choose to obey becomes your master? You can choose sin, which leads to death, or you can choose to obey God and receive his approval. 17 Thank God! Once you were slaves of sin, but now you have obeyed with all your heart the new teaching God has given you. 18 Now you are free from sin, your old master, and you have become slaves to your new master, righteousness. I speak this way, using the illustration of slaves and masters, because it is easy to understand.

Before, you let yourselves be slaves of impurity and lawlessness. Now you must choose to be slaves of righteousness so that you will become holy. NLT
In this verse, the word “drink” means “imbibe”, that is, to take in something mentally, to assimilate something such as an idea or experience. The word “wine” symbolizes being under the influence of the wrath of Yahweh. The word “wrath” means “abhorrence”, that is, a strong disapproval of something.

While man’s wrath is manifest by the feeling of anger or vengeance with the desire to punish or retaliate, Yahweh’s wrath is always accompanied with love and with a goal to bring the disobedient into himself. Yahweh is Love, and his love emanates from him and is directed towards his creation at all times. Love cannot act or react contrary to that which he is—Love. Anything less than the principle of love is a deception coming forth from the carnal understanding of the natural mind.

Yahweh revealed his disapproval of sin through the Holy Spirit of Truth. While “drink” denoted the believer’s participation with the Holy Spirit, the “wine” signified the Holy Spirit’s influence as truth was revealed, exposing the deception of the carnal mind. Yahweh’s “wrath” was him making it known unto mankind that he disapproved of their sinful actions. Notice those who experienced Yahweh’s wrath were tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy messengers and the Lamb that dwelled in heaven; therefore, those in heaven were viewing those who were being tormented.

According to most teachings, this torment is never ending. If this were literal, those viewing the tormented would also be tormented because Love does not delight in evil (1 Cor. 13:6). Only the sadistic have pleasure in seeing another human burning and withering in pain. It is a part of our nature to want to save anyone from a burning fire. If this scene is to be taken literal, Yahweh would be worse than Hitler—at least he didn’t keep his enemies suffering throughout eternity.

Fire is always a symbol of judgment, that is, correction. Yahweh is a consuming fire (Heb. 12:29). Believers are baptized in fire (Matt. 3:11, 16). Yahweh’s messengers are flames of fire (Heb. 1:7). Man is saved by fire (1 Cor. 3:15). When Yahweh’s judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world learn righteousness (Isa. 26:9).

Isa. 54:16-17, Behold, I have created the smith that blows the coals in the fire, and that brings forth an instrument for his work; and I have created the waster to destroy. No weapon that is formed against you shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against you in judgment you shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of Yahweh, and their righteousness is of me, saith Yahweh.

1 Pet. 1:7, That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perishes, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honor and glory at the appearing of the Anointed SAVIOR.
Isa. 4:4-6, When Yahweh shall have washed away the filth of the daughters of Zion, and shall have purged the blood of Jerusalem from the midst thereof by the spirit of judgment, and by the spirit of burning. And Yahweh will create upon every dwelling place of mount Zion, and upon her assemblies, a cloud and smoke by day, and the shining of a flaming fire by night: for upon all the glory shall be a defense. And there shall be a tabernacle for a shadow in the daytime from the heat, and for a place of refuge, and for a covert from storm and from rain.

“Being in the presence of the Lamb and his holy messengers” shows the believers exposing unrighteousness by their righteous living. The Holy Spirit within them revealed sin and brought condemnation to the unrighteous by their very presence.

In heathen religions, the gods were angry and in constant need of being appeased. Their pagan concepts were handed down through the ages leaving many bound in fear of Yahweh’s so-called “divine wrath.” Man’s wrath is often regarded as a part of Yahweh’s holiness. It is said to be a proper and natural expression of Yahweh’s righteous love. It is believed that Yahweh’s wrath must always, under all circumstances and at all cost, be poured out upon those who angers him, and that the disobedient must be annihilated or go into everlasting punishment where the fire is never quenched.

In reality, Yahweh never seeks revenge, nor does he see the value in punishment. Carnal man cannot comprehend how Yahweh reacts in his disapproval of sin because man judges by his own feelings of angry and his feelings are accompanied with the desire to punish or retaliate against his offenders according to the works of the flesh.

Yahweh’s wrath (abhorrence) was and is not upon man, but upon sin. When the Holy Spirit came, he revealed sin to mankind and the revealing tormented the carnal man. The Holy Spirit revealed (poured out) Yahweh’s pure Word of Truth—without mixture, that is, without shadows or allegories, such as, the Levitical order. Those who walked in the presence of Yahweh brought condemnation upon those who continued to walk in sin. Those who crucified their fleshly nature, tormented those who didn’t. By their righteous actions, they heaped coals of fire upon their heads (Rom. 12:20).

After the day of Pentecost, man began to understand that their unrighteous thoughts and feelings were not approved of by Yahweh. Man had to gird up his mind and overcome sin, not just restrain his beastly nature (Eph. 6:14; 1 Pet. 1:13). Man had to be renewed in the spirit of his mind (Eph. 4:21-24; Phil. 2:5).

Rom. 12:1-2, I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of Yahweh, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto Yahweh, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of Yahweh.

The Father is Love and mankind is his offspring. He sent the Holy Spirit to teach his children the right way of thinking and acting because their natural understanding kept them in bondage and separated them from him. When their sinfulness was revealed, they understood what they were doing wrong and it brought condemnation upon them. Those who allowed the Holy Spirit to teach, guide, and comfort them were transformed into the image of the Father (Col. 3:10).

Heb. 12:6-13, For whom the Lord loves he educates (chastens), and scourges every son whom he receives. If you endure chastening, Yahweh deals with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chastens not? But if you be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are you bastards, and not sons. Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live? For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness. Now no chastening for the present seems to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby. Wherefore lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees; and make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is lame be turned out of the way; but let it rather be healed.

Yahweh’s children are corrected by their own sowing and reaping (Gal. 6:7-8).

Jer. 2:19, Your own wickedness shall correct you, and your backslidings shall reprove you: know therefore and see that it is an evil thing and bitter, that thou have forsaken Yahweh your God, and that my awe (fear) is not in you, said the Lord Yahweh of hosts.

Yahweh created man in sin, that is, lacking maturity. Because man did not have the maturity to produce righteousness in the flesh, he allowed him to walk in sin, to fall short of maturity, as he offered sacrifices for his sinful nature. Yahweh’s visual aids, such as the tabernacle in the wilderness, revealed the Spirit of the FATHER to mankind. Through the SAVIOR’s ministry, Yahweh made it known that he did not approve of mankind’s sinful actions, thoughts, and feelings. Then when the Holy Spirit came on the day of Pentecost, he gave the believers power to overcome sin in the flesh. Mankind became accountable for not only their actions, but for their thoughts and feelings as well.

Matt 15:18-20, Those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man. For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies: these are the things which defile a man….
John 3:17-21, Yahweh sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. (Notice the SAVIOR’s mission.) He that believes on him is not condemned: but he that believes not is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name (character and authority) of the only begotten Son of Yahweh. And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved (a feeling for) darkness rather than light, because their actions (deeds) were evil. For every one that does evil hates the light, neither comes to the light, lest his actions (deeds) should be reproved. But he that does truth comes to the light, that his actions (deeds) may be made manifest, that they are wrought in Yahweh. (“Light” is not a literal light; it is the understanding of truth.)
Rom 8:1, There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in the Anointed SAVIOR, who walk not after the flesh (beastly nature), but after the Spirit (That is, love, joy, peace, faith, etc.).

Just as he does today, the FATHER’s disapproval of sin was not manifested by anger, malice, or jealousy; he reproved sin by his Word. He loved his creation and rebuked and educated mankind through the Holy Spirit of Truth.

Rev. 3:18 I counsel you to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that you may be rich; and white raiment, that you may be clothed, and that the shame of your nakedness does not appear; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see. As many as I love, I rebuke and educate (chasten): be zealous therefore, and repent.

14:11 And the smoke of their torment ascends (up) ages (forever) and ages (ever): and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his representation (image), and whosoever receives the mark of his name.

The smoke symbolized man’s carnal concepts that obscured truth. Just as literal smoke pollutes the air and obscures vision, so also did carnality obscure the believers sense of reasoning. Carnality is in direct contrast to the Holy Spirit. The carnal man is subject to human sensibility and weaknesses. Carnal reasoning violates the principles of righteousness and alienates man from Yahweh. “Smoke ascending from their torment,” correlates with man’s carnality effecting generation after generation causing mental and emotional problems as well as wars, famines, devastation, etc. Man’s ignorance alone has destroyed many through the lust of his flesh, the lust of his eyes, and through his pride.

Keep in mind that the leopard beast spoken of in the previous chapter was the image of blasphemy that was worshipped. He represented malicious and abusive lies that were spread by false prophets and false Jewish leaders. Also remember that there were many in the seven churches that were committing spiritual fornication because of the influence of false doctrines.

14:12 Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of Yahweh, and the faith of the SAVIOR. This verse should have read, “Here is the patience of the saints; keeping the commandments of Yahweh and the faith of the SAVIOR.” The words “here are they that” were added.

The key word in this verse is “patience.” It means cheerful or hopeful, endurance, constancy. The word “faith” means persuasion, that is, credence (trustworthiness); moral conviction; truth itself. Those that were not tormented were the saints that patiently kept the commandments and had the same moral conviction as the SAVIOR. They were not influenced by the blasphemy of the false doctrines that were being taught in the churches.

These saints were sanctified by Yahweh’s truth. They were separated from the world by their moral conviction. The Father and the Son had become one in them. The SAVIOR’s prayer was answered.

John 17:16-23, The disciples are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. Sanctify them through your truth: your word is truth. As you have sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world. And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth. Sanctify them through your truth: your word is truth. Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; that they all may be one; as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that you have sent me. And the glory which you gave me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: I in them, and you in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou have sent me, and have loved them, as you have loved me.

Yahweh is love. Remember it was said that Yahweh would dwell in his people and walk in them, that is, they would have his name and his character inscribed in their minds. He said he would be their God and they would to be his people (2 Cor. 6:16).

1 John 4:12-17, No man has seen Yahweh at any time. If we love one another, Yahweh dwells in us, and his love is perfected in us. Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit. And we have seen and do witness (testify) that the Father sent the Son to be the Savior of the world. Whosoever shall confess that the SAVIOR is the Son of Yahweh, Yahweh dwells in him, and he in Yahweh. (Not by just saying, but by being a living example of Yahweh.) And we have known and believed the love that Yahweh has to us. Yahweh is love; and he that dwells in love dwells in Yahweh, and Yahweh in him. Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of decision (judgment): because as he is, so are we in this world.

The Father did not leave the meaning of love to man’s imagination. First Corinthians thirteen identifies love in great length, which is the essence of Yahweh. It tells us that Yahweh is patient and kind (caring); he does not have the feeling of envy. He is neither boastful nor inflated, that is, he is not proud or haughty. Yahweh does not act unbecoming. He never seeks after his own self gain, but looks out for his creation. Yahweh never gets exasperated, that is, infuriated, angry, or wrathful. He never keeps an inventory of evil (bad), but at the same time, he is not happy with iniquity (wrongfulness). Yahweh rejoices in truth and quietly endures all. He has faith in all and perseveres through all. He will never at any time become insufficient, that is, he will never fail. Yahweh is Love (1 John 4:8, 16) and any action or feeling short of Love is not Yahweh but is the beastly nature.

Yahweh met with Israel in the Tabernacle in the Wilderness above the mercy seat. They had to offer their beast, which represented their own beastly nature, upon the altar in the courtyard to commune with Yahweh. But the SAVIOR changed that; he came inside the believers on the day of Pentecost to remove the beastly nature. The Holy Spirit of Righteousness made it possible for mankind to be in the image of Yahweh by delivering them from their beastly natures.

Matt. 5:48, Be you therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.
2 Tim. 3:16-17, All scripture is given by inspiration of Yahweh, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: that the man of Yahweh may be complete (perfect), thoroughly furnished unto all good works.
Eph. 4:11-16, Yahweh gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of the Anointed (Christ): till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of Yahweh, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of the Anointed (Christ): that we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness (animal characteristics), whereby they lie in wait to deceive; but speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even the Anointed (Christ): from whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplies, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, makes increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.
James 1:2-4, My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into divers temptations; knowing this, that the trying of your faith works patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that you may be complete (perfect) and sound (entire), wanting nothing.

Yahweh will never forsake any of his creation; he works all things after the counsel of his own will (Eph. 1:11).

Rom. 8:38-39, Paul was persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of Yahweh, which is in Anointed SAVIOR our Lord.
Ps. 22:24-31, Yahweh has not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted; neither has he hid his face from him; but when he cried unto him, he heard. My praise shall be of you in the great congregation: I will pay my vows before them that reverence (fear) him. The meek shall eat and be satisfied: they shall praise Yahweh that seek him: your heart shall live forever. All the ends of the world shall remember and turn unto Yahweh: and all the kindreds of the nations shall worship before you. For the kingdom is Yahweh’s: and he is the governor among the nations. All they that be fat upon earth shall eat and worship: all they that go down to the dust shall bow before him: and none can keep alive his own soul. A seed shall serve him; it shall be accounted to the Lord for a generation. They shall come, and shall declare his righteousness unto a people that shall be born, that he has done this.

Yahweh sent his son to save the world so the world through him might find the truth that sets man free from his bondage of sin.

1 Tim. 2:4-6, Who (Yahweh) will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man the Anointed SAVIOR; who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.
John 8:31-32, 34-36, The SAVIOR said to those Jews which believed on him, If you continue in my word, then are you my disciples indeed; and you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free… Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever commits sin is the servant of sin. And the servant abides not in the house for ever: but the Son abides ever. If the Son therefore shall make you free, you shall be free indeed.
John 1:29, The next day John saw the SAVIOR coming unto him, and said, “Behold the Lamb of Yahweh, which takes away the sin of the world.
John 3:17, Yahweh sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
John 6:32-33, The SAVIOR said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father gives you the true bread from heaven. For the bread of Yahweh is he which comes down from heaven, and gives life unto the world.
John 12:47, If any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world. (Also see John 16:7-11)

14:13 And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me (John), Write, “Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from this time forward (henceforth): Yea,” said the Spirit, “that they (may) rest from their labors; and their deeds (works) do follow them.”

What is the difference in the “dying in the Lord” before this time and after? Why would those who died before this time not be blessed, not find rest from their labors, and why didn’t their works follow them? This implies that all the Old Testament patriots who were martyred were not blessed and their death was in vain because what they had died for was lost.

In this verse, the “dead” is not speaking of those literally in death, but of crucifying the old man of sin—that first nature with its carnal concepts. The believers were instructed to present their bodies a living sacrifice by renewing their minds by the principles of righteousness (Rom. 12:1-2).

Eph. 4:17-24, This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that you henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind, having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of Yahweh through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart: who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness. But you have not so learned Christ; if so be that you have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in the SAVIOR: that you put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; and be renewed in the spirit of your mind; and that you put on the new man, which after Yasha is created in righteousness and true holiness.
Rom. 6:1-7, What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? Yahweh forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? Know you not, that so many of us as were baptized into Anointed SAVIOR were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. For he that is dead is freed from sin.
Col. 3:7-10, In the which you also walked some time, when you lived in them. But now you also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth. Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his actions (deeds); and have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him.

The believers were definitely blessed because the Holy Spirit dwelled in them comforting, guiding, and teaching them. There was rest for those who ceased from their own deeds (Heb. 4:9-10), but the works of the flesh kept the unbelievers slaving away in their bondage of corruption.

Gal. 5:19-21, Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of Yahweh.
Rom. 8:16-23, The Spirit itself bears witness with our spirit, that we are the children of Yahweh: and if children, then heirs; heirs of Yahweh, and joint-heirs with Christ (the Anointing); if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together. For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. For the earnest expectation of the creation (creature) waits for the manifestation of the sons of Yahweh. (Notice that they have not completely overcome yet, but they will.) For the creation (creature) was made subject to depravity (vanity), not willingly, but by reason of him who has subjected the same in hope, because the creation (creature) itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of Yahweh. For we know that the whole creation groans and travails in pain together until now. And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the son placing (adoption, to wit), the redemption of our body. (See also Eph. 4:29-32.)

The believers’ deeds followed them; they were living manifestations of the power of the Father:

1 Peter 2:9-12, You are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that you should show forth the praises of him who has called you out of darkness into his marvelous light: which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of Yahweh: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy. Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul; having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify Yahweh in the day of visitation.
2 Cor. 4:6-7, Yahweh, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, has shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of Yahweh in the face of the Anointed SAVIOR. But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of Yahweh, and not of us.

Rev. 14:14, And I looked, and behold a white cloud, and upon the cloud one sat (as in residing) like unto the Son of man, having on his head a golden crown, and in his hand a sharp sickle. (The description of the Son of man is given in Revelation 1:13-16.)

The white cloud with the Son of Man sitting on it, symbolized the Holy Spirit’s presence in the body of believers. It was the believers joining together in one mind and in one Spirit to bring forth truth to those in the earth.

The one likened unto the Son of Man was the manifestation of the Kingdom of Yahweh coming in the believers. The SAVIOR had said, “At that day (the day when the Spirit of Truth came) you shall know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you (John 14:20).

Acts 2:38-39, Then Peter said unto them (the multitude), “Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of the Anointed SAVIOR for the remission of sins, and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.”
Matt. 26:64, The SAIVOR said unto the high priest, “You have said: nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall you see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.” (See also John 3:13.)
Matt. 16:27-28, For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his messengers (angels); and then he shall reward every man according to his works. Verily I say unto you, there be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom. (See also Matt. 17:9.)

In the above scripture, there were people with the SAVIOR that were going to be alive when the Son of man came in his kingdom, which caused them to understand that in their generation the Kingdom of Yahweh was being established on earth.

Clouds symbolize the presences of Yahweh, his glory and power:
Ex. 19:9, Yahweh said unto Moses, Lo, I come unto thee in a thick cloud, that the people may hear when I speak with you, and believe you forever.
Ex. 16:10, It came to pass, as Aaron spoke unto the whole congregation of the children of Israel, that they looked toward the wilderness, and, behold, the glory of Yahweh appeared in the cloud. (Also see Ex. 24:16; Ex. 34:5; Ex 40:38; 1 Kings 8:10-11.)

To come “in” clouds of heaven symbolizes the Spirit-filled believers:
Matt. 24:30, Then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
Matt. 26:64, The SAVIOR said unto him (the High Priest), You have said: nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall you see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.
In the eleventh chapter of Hebrews, those who continued in the faith made up a great cloud of witnesses; they testified of Yahweh’s presence by the life they lived.
Heb. 12:1-2, Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which does so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto the SAVIOR the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of Yahweh.

The crown worn by the one liken unto the Son of man is not a diadem, but a laurel wreath. It represents the victorious life of the Body of Christ.

James 1:12, Blessed is the man that endures temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord has promised to them that love him.
1 Cor. 9:24-25, Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receives the prize? So run, that you may obtain. And every man that strives for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.

The sharp sickle in the hand of the Son of man is a symbol of the ministry of the Holy Spirit as the Spirit-filled believers went out into the world.

Matt 9:37-38, The SAVIOR said unto his disciples, “The harvest truly is plenteous, but the laborers are few; pray you therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth laborers into his harvest.” ( See also Luke 10:2).

14:15 And another angel (4th angel) came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to him that sat on the cloud, “Thrust in your sickle, and reap: for the time is come for you to reap; for the harvest of the earth is ripe.”
16 And he that sat on the cloud thrust in his sickle on the earth; and the earth was reaped.

This angel had a message that came out of a temple, the dwelling place of the Holy Spirit; the hearts and minds of mankind. It was time for the message of repentance to go out unto all nations, that is, for them to learn a different way of thinking. The fourth angel that came out of the temple commanding the Son of man to harvest the earth was metaphoric of the message of repentance going out to all nations. Repentance is the beginning of salvation; it sit the Church on the path to spiritual maturity. The message of repentance dealt with man’s state of mind and it gave hope for deliverance from the bondage of carnality.

“The earth is ripe” was a term used to indicate that the time had come for both the Jews and Gentiles (other nations) to unite in the worship of the FATHER. The Levitical Priesthood had separated the Jews from all the other nations, but through the Holy Spirit (the Melchisedec Priesthood) the partition had been broken down (Eph. 2:8-21). The message of repentance was for all nations; Yahweh commanded all men everywhere to repent, that is, think differently (Acts 17:30).

Luke 24:46-47, The SAVIOR said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behooved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

Because of Abraham’s commitment to Yahweh, the Jews were the first to spread the Word of Truth. The ministry of repentance was set in motion by a nation that Yahweh had dealt with for the past 1,898 years.

Rom. 1:16, I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of Yahweh unto salvation to everyone that believes; to the Jew first, and also to the nations (Greek).
Rom. 2:10-11, But glory, honor, and peace, to every man that works good, to the Jew first, and also to the nations (Gentile): for there is no respect of persons with Yahweh.
Acts 14:27-28, When they (Barnabas and Paul) were come, and had gathered the church together, they rehearsed all that Yahweh had done with them, and how he had opened the door of faith unto the Gentiles.
It was a time of great rejoicing because truth set the captives free from their bondages.
Ps. 126, When Yahweh turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream. Then was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing: then said they among the nations (heathen), Yahweh has done great things for them. Yahweh has done great things for us; whereof we are glad. Turn again our captivity, O Yahweh, as the streams in the south. They that sow in tears shall reap in joy. He that goes forth and weeps, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.

14:17 And another angel (5th angel) came out of the temple which is in heaven, he also having a sharp sickle.

This angel came out of a converted temple, a temple conducted by heavenly principles. This angel came forth from the exalted realm. Again the word “temple” means “dwelling place.” After the message of repentance had been heard, the believers were prepared to hear a greater ministry. The sharp sickle symbolized the ministry, but this message demanded more than “thinking” differently; it demanded a sacrifice of their fleshly nature.

14:18 And another angel (6th angel) came out from the altar (the place of sacrifice), which had power (delegated influence) over fire (cleansing) and cried with a loud cry to him that had the sharp sickle, saying, Thrust in thy sharp sickle, and gather the clusters of the vine of the earth; for her grapes are fully ripe.
19 And the angel thrust in his sickle into the earth, and gathered the vine of the earth, and cast it into the great winepress of the wrath of Yahweh.

The angel had a message that came from the sacrificial altar; the place of sacrificing the beastly nature. This angel had power over fire. Fire is a symbol of cleansing. Cleansing is the judgment and correction that brings man into unity with the principles of righteousness. This ministry brought forth discipleship.

The sickle in the hand of the angel signifies that there was a greater ministry than that which came out of the first harvest. The first harvest was the earth. Now we see out of these earthen vessels is another harvest; they “produced” the fruit of the Holy Spirit. The “clusters of the vine of the earth” symbolized the fruit of the Spirit.

The vine and vineyards are both symbols of prosperity and blessings (Mic. 4:4; Zec. 3:10). To have an abundant and fruitful vineyard symbolized Yahweh’s favor (Hosea 2:15; Gen. 49:22). It was also a symbol of Yahweh’s people (Isa. 5:1-7). The SAVIOR referred to himself as the vine and people as the branches (John 15:1-6); when joined together they produced the fruit of righteousness.

The branches that did not bring forth the fruit of righteousness went through the fire. Keep in mind that only man’s works are burned; a man is saved by the fire in which he goes through (1 Cor. 3:13-15). The fire symbolized the cleansing of one’s soul.

John 15:1-8, I (the SAVIOR), am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. Every branch in me that bears not fruit he takes away: and every branch that bears fruit, he purges it, that it may bring forth more fruit. Now you are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you. Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can you, except you abide in me. I am the vine, you are the branches: He that abides in me, and I in him, the same brings forth much fruit: for without me you can do nothing. If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned. If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, you shall ask what you will, and it shall be done unto you. Herein is my Father glorified, that you bear much fruit; so shall you be my disciples.

The FATHER’s “wrath” is his “passion.” Passion is intense or overpowering emotion such as love, joy, lust, etc. In Yahweh’s case, it is always love because he is Love (John 4:8, 16). (For the characteristics of love see First Corinthians 13.) The fruit of the Holy Spirit is love, joy, peace, etc. (Gal. 5:22-23).

When clusters of grapes are put into a winepress, juice is forced out. The same principle works with Yahweh’s people; when believers are tried through hardships or persecutions, it reveals the Spirit within—a living manifestation of the fruit of the Heavenly Father.

1 Peter 1:3-7, Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord the Anointed SAVIOR, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of the Anointed SAVIOR from the dead, to an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fades not away, reserved in heaven for you, who are kept by the power of Yahweh through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. Wherein you greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, you are in heaviness through manifold temptations: that the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perishes, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honor and glory at the revealing (appearing) of the Anointed SAVIOR.
Phil. 1:9-11, This I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment; that you may approve things that are excellent; that you may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ; being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Anointed SAVIOR, unto the glory and praise of Yahweh.

14:20 And the winepress was trampled (trodden) outside (without) the city, and blood came out of the winepress, even unto the horse bridles, from (by the space of) a thousand and six hundred furlongs.

The juice of grapes is referred to as blood (Gen. 49:11). Blood of the grapes symbolizes attitudes, that is, the Holy Spirit of Righteousness manifested in the Spirit filled believers. The only way the unbelievers could see the Holy Spirit within the believers was when they scrutinized them, oftentimes for authenticity. Notice that the winepress was trodden outside of the city. The winepress symbolizes pressure, persecution, or hardship. The city represents a government, or authority. To be outside of the city indicates lack of government. The winepress being trodden outside the city indicates that the Holy Spirit functioned in the midst of unrighteousness and persevered in persecution. The believers manifested the fruit of the Spirit among those who were perverted and they persecuted them. They also manifested the fruit of righteousness among those who complained and found fault with them, taking every opportunity to pervert what they said and did.

Phil. 2:13-16, For it is Yahweh which works in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure. Do all things without murmurings and disputings: that you may be blameless and harmless, the sons of Yahweh, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom you shine as lights in the world; holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither labored in vain.

A furlong is a measurement of length, which symbolized the Spirit filled believers’ endurance, that is, their persistence to hang in there despite their hardships and persecution.

A furlong is a ‘furrow long’ or length of a medieval field. The length varied depending on the type of soil. It was usual for horses [or oxen] to take a short breather at the end of the furrow before turning in to the next furrow. The heavier the soil, the harder the horses had to work, and so the less time between breathers. This led to shorter furrows or furlongs between the ends, and therefore local variations in furlong length.

A furrow is a trench plowed in a field preparing the ground to receive seed. Notice that the length of a furlong depended upon the type of soil, the better the soil, the longer the furlong. This being said, the space of a thousand six hundred furlong measurement cannot be taken literal but spiritual. Only the furlong could have been used as a symbol of endurance, because it is the only measurement that is flexible. This measurement is an undetermined distance that reveals the perseverance of the believers as they spread the Word of truth. When the believers allowed the Holy Spirit to guide, comfort, and teach them, their burdens became lighter, their endurance greater, and their labor easier. The FATHER did not allow more to be put upon the believers than they could bear (1 Cor. 10:13).

Matt. 11:28-30, Come unto me, all you that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and you shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
Jer. 4:1-3, If thou will return, O Israel, said Yahweh, return unto me: and if you will put away your abominations out of my sight, then shall you not remove. And you shall swear, Yahweh lives, in truth, in judgment, and in righteousness; and the nations shall bless themselves in him, and in him shall they glory. For thus said Yahweh to the men of Judah and Jerusalem, Break up your fallow ground, and sow not among thorns.
Hos. 10:13, Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek Yahweh, till he come and rain righteousness upon you.

Up to the horse’s bridle is a measurement of height. The horse’s bridle is the head gear with which a horse is governed. It consists of a headstall, a bit, and reins, with other appendages. It symbolized the believers’ submission to the Holy Spirit; their embrace to spiritual leadership and their willingness to yield to the Holy Spirit, that is, to be led by the Holy Spirit and not by the will of the flesh. It is a surrendering of the believer’s whole being—mind, body, spirit—to the leadership of the Holy Spirit.

James 3:2-6, If anyone can control his tongue, it proves that he has perfect control over himself in every other way. We can make a large horse turn around and go wherever we want by means of a small bit in his mouth. And a tiny rudder makes a huge ship turn wherever the pilot wants it to go, even though the winds are strong. So also the tongue is a small thing, but what enormous damage it can do. A great forest can be set on fire by one tiny spark. And the tongue is a flame of fire. It is full of wickedness, and poisons every part of the body. And the tongue is set on fire by hell itself and can turn our whole lives into a blazing flame of destruction and disaster. TLB
Rom. 8:12-14, Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. For if you live after the flesh, you shall die: but if you through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, you shall live. For as many as are led by the Spirit of Yahweh, they are the sons of Yahweh.

This fourteenth chapter of Revelation began with the ministry of the disciples, which engulfed the 144,000 with the Lamb, as they brought the message of repentance to the nation of Israel. This ministry was the Son of man in the cloud of witnesses. Then out of this ministry came the Word of Truth to the rest of the nations—the earth was harvested. Then out of every nation came forth the Spirit-filled, many-membered body of dedicated believers; these are represented by cluster of grapes as they fulfilled the work of the ministry (Eph. 4:12-17) bringing the Holy Spirit of righteousness, peace, and joy to all nations. The life of the fruit flowed out of the winepress.

John 8:31-32, Then said the SAVIOR to those Jews which believed on him, If you continue in my word, then are you my disciples indeed; and you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
John 7:37-39, In the last day, that great day of the feast, the SAVIOR stood and cried, saying, “If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. He that believes on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living (Life) water. (But this spoke he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Spirit was not yet given; because that the SAVIOR was not yet glorified.)
Jer. 31:10-14, Hear the word of Yahweh, O you nations, and declare it in the isles afar off, and say, “He that scattered Israel will gather him, and keep him, as a shepherd does his flock. For Yahweh has redeemed Jacob, and ransomed him from the hand of him that was stronger than he. Therefore they (the nations) shall come and sing in the height of Zion, and shall flow together to the goodness of Yahweh, for wheat, and for wine, and for oil, and for the young of the flock and of the herd: and their soul shall be as a watered garden; and they shall not sorrow any more at all. Then shall the virgin rejoice in the dance, both young men and old together: for I will turn their mourning into joy, and will comfort them, and make them rejoice from their sorrow. And I will satiate the soul of the priests with fatness, and my people shall be satisfied with my goodness, said Yahweh.
Isa. 60:1-5, Arise, shine; for your light is come, and the glory of Yahweh is risen upon you. For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but Yahweh shall arise upon you, and his glory shall be seen upon you. And the nations (Gentiles) shall come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your rising. Lift up your eyes round about, and see: all they gather themselves together, they come to you: you sons shall come from far, and your daughters shall be nursed at your side. Then you shall see, and flow together, and your heart shall fear, and be enlarged; because the abundance of the sea shall be converted unto thee, the forces of the nations (Gentiles) shall come unto you.
