Even though the Holy Spirit leads us and cares for us when we are in darkness, it is still the Father’s pleasure to inform us of what things we are to be facing in life before we face it. We should not fail to seek His instructions, His warnings, and to be informed by His great wisdom. He really doesn’t require us to walk in darkness, for darkness is ignorance and He would that we all had knowledge of truth and the wisdom to know what to do with it.
A wise saying, “Ponder the path of your feet, and let all your ways be established.” Prov. 4:26. This is the same as saying, “Think about what you are getting ready to do.” Are you prepared to reap the consequences? That is a big responsibility. If it is good if it is the fruit of the Holy Spirit, then it demands consideration of others, determination, faith, and endurance. The fruit of the Holy Spirit produces joy and peace for not only you but for those around you. It brings you into spiritual maturity. But if your path is walking in the works of the flesh (Gal. 5:19-21), then it centers around self while it repels the fruit of the Holy Spirit. On this path, the law of flesh says you’re not going to be a very happy person in the long run, because it takes the people around us to make us truly happy. The Christ in them strengthens us, calms us, encourages us, teaches us, and loves us. Without them we wouldn’t have a desire to live.
